Fixing my rocking chair. Some crazy heatwaves caused the seat bottom to pull away from the seat back. So a little support beam with mortise and tenons was added.

Fixing the gap by adding a support piece. It’s not even fully secured yet and already solved the problem perfectly!

1mm tenons are so cute! But will be strong enough to provide the support the seat bottom needs

Time to add a support piece because even though the problem is corrected with clamping, relying on the strength of the glue to hold it together isn’t wise

Tenons, carving, shaping and dry fitting the rocking chair seat back. A bunch of tenons to attach the seat back to the legs and seat bottom, and a lot of hours spent shaping the seat back because flat wood just isn’t very comfy

The end is so close. But also I have so many details I want to perfect before I can call it done. I don’t know when to stop! I think the rounded edges on the top really pulled the rocking chair together though

Oopsies. Routing is just so much faster and less work to get an even roundover than using hand tools. But that’s what I get for trying to be lazy

Bending legs, a whole lot of mortises and dry fitting the rocking chair. The process of making the legs was the most important as the angle needed to allow for a comfy and ergonomic sitting position while bearing the brunt of the weight of the sitter (me)
