I feel like I’ve lost a friend, a family member, a mentor; in many ways, I have, as he was so influential throughout my life.
I was fortunate to meet this incredible man, albeit briefly, twice in my lifetime, for which I’ll be forever honored and grateful.
The first time I gazed upon the Pacific Ocean at age 17, I saw the rest of my life in technicolor ahead of me and knew I would always live close to that cool, blue water. Every David Hockney painting brings me back to that same feeling of calm and assurance that I’m exactly where I should be.
I will miss knowing that he is walking amongst us, but feel immensely better knowing that his breathtaking artworks will continue to inspire and speak to the world in perpetuity. 🩵
