🌼 It's too hot for pumpkin spice, but it's right on target for daisies! This is the last of the daisy bags! I fully intended to make them to match the crossbody bags, using quilt pieces for the back. I did a last minute design change and repurposed mens jeans instead. Both styles of bags turned out awesome!

The tote bags are 15"w x 17"d with a 6" gusset. Straps are 1-1/4"w x 28" long. You could easily fit a chihuahua or two in these! But! They could also be used for school books, craft supplies, overnight trips... you get it. 😁

With the Mother Nature having a major hot flash, it's not recommended to leave waxed canvas in the car. The wax can melt. It can also be reapplied. But not leaving in the car is a better option.

Two bags will be going to Ellie Mills Mercantile tomorrow and one will be going to Hope Homestead Farms & General Store possibly tomorrow. Soon anyways!

❤️ I love wearing vintage art! I had just enough of this beautiful red star quilt to make a hoodie. The faded red gingham fabric couldn't be more perfect. For some fun, I lined the hood, the backside of the pocket and just enough up the sleeves so you can see it cuffed up. I also used it for the seam binding. I think garments can be fun on the inside, too! The quilt is in pretty good condition for its age. I had to make a few repairs. There aren't any stains.

This hoodie is a S/M with 24" armpit to armpit. I'm 5'5" and 140lbs, and it just fits me. I can get it on ok, but I have to be careful getting it off. It's old fabric and it doesn't stretch like a knit hoodie does. So this would fit someone smaller than me. Oversized is the best anyways. 😁

I'll be taking it to Ellie Mills Mercantile on Friday!

💗 I am taking very little credit for this coat. The vintage quilt is a stunner! I absolutely love the border! All hand stitched and quilted in incredible detail and is still in very good condition. The photos do not do it justice. I had already cut out 2 plates for bags and I'm sooo glad I didn't cut more. I don't think a coat would've worked out. This is more of a L/XL. It is 30" arm pit to arm pit. I'm 5'5" and 140lbs and it's just a little big - perfect!

All the seams and front pockets have been bias bound in a pretty blue quilting cotton.

There are a few stains on the inside and back of the collar, and two small dots on the right collar.

I'll be bringing this beauty to Ellie Mills Mercantile on Friday. The spool quilt will be going to Hope Homestead Farms & General Store hopefully on Saturday.

I've had questions regarding smaller sized coats. Yes! I have plans for 2. One quilt is small, so I might only get a vest. The other will be the same style as the spool coat.

Yes, the spool coat is pretty big. It wasn't my intention, but just what happened. I love the coat! It would be an awesome coat to wrap up in on the porch on frosty mornings with a cup of coffee or for the chilly evenings with a glass of w**e. 😁

I've been repurposing quilts and other vintage textiles for 2 years now. I'm just starting coats. As much as I wish, I do not have shelves of 100 quilts like the other gals seen on fb. So, I will make coats as I get quilts.

Even though I've been making garments on and off since the early 80s, I am not a fast sewer. I also work part time, so that can add to the time factor. The quilts I get need repair, which can take several hours to do. I think it took 2-3 hours to repair the spool coat pieces before I sewed it together. Not too bad.

So, there are more quilt coats in the future. I like the idea of making matching bags and small things with the leftovers. Stay tuned... 😁

Last one! This is the last of the spool quilt. It was the one spot that had 2 spools going a different direction and it worked perfect!

The scraps left over from the coat have made 3 peeper keepers, 3 pouches, 3 denim totes and this lovely waxed canvas tote. The scraps of the scraps don't fill a plastic grocery bag. I should find some very small something to make with them.

This bag is approximately 15"w x 14-1/2"h with a 3-1/2" gusset. Large quilt pocket on the front. I added a bit of whimsy and made the inside pocket from a piece of tablecloth that was left over from making an apron. I love the blue birds! Magnetic snaps both inside the bag and the outside pocket.

I wasn't planning on being part of the photoshoot. Eh, why not... 😁

I'll take it to Ellie Mills Mercantile on Friday. 😊

I've been wanting to do tote bags with denim jeans for a while. Denim goes with everything! I had 3 pieces of the bow tie/spool quilt that fit the idea. There's a pocket outside and a magnetic snap inside. Waxed canvas bottoms. They're approximately 9.5w x 10h with a 2.75 gusset. Straps are 27" long. The pretty yellow lining fabric is the same as the seam binding on the quilt coat.

The totes the perfect size for books, knitting/crochet/crafts on the go, purse, day trip diaper bag.... the ideas are endless. 🙂

Two will go to Ellie Mills Mercantile on Friday and one will go to Hope Homestead Farms & General Store next week.

The quilt coat made it to the booth today! Along with the pouches and peeper keepers*. I used a vintage yellow gingham pillowcase for the linings. There are several styles of bags and a few vintage aprons on the coat rack. A few bunnies that make cute baby gifts.

The mini barn quilts are still looking for new homes. The oak wood is locally sourced and milled on our saw mill. I used true, powdered milk paint and wax sealer. There's a hanger on the back. These were so fun paint!

*peeper keepers aren't just for keeping your glasses! They're great for scissors and other sewing supplies, knitting/crochet needles, "emergency kit" with nail file, lip balm, touch-up makeup, etc., or a small case for all the little stuff at the bottom of your purse. 😁

I made a quilt coat! It's HUGE! 😁 It's just like wrapping yourself up in a quilt that doesn’t drag on the floor 🙃. I'm quite happy with how it turned out. All the seams have been bound with pretty bias tape. I've also been able to make 3 peeper keepers and 3 pouches. I have 3 small/medium totes and 1 large tote cut out. I should have those done by next week. I'll bring the coat and the pouches to Ellie Mills Mercantile on Friday. Peepers are already there.

Now that the market is over, I'm back to my regularly scheduled program of tending my garden, starting new projects and working to pay for garden and new project supplies.
