There is a particular freedom in designing a small space well. When square footage is limited, the design budget concentrates, and that concentration allows for materials that a larger home might dilute across too many rooms. Mohair. Wool. Linen. Sometimes the most transformative move is also the simplest. When Studio M inherited this Coconut Grove condo, every hinge, handle, and cabinet pull was commercial-grade brushed stainless, functional, forgettable. As the palette shifted toward cream, toast, and soft touches of black, the answer became clear: brass and bronze, applied with intention. A single detail added to every interior door took a basic slab and elevated it into something quietly refined. One decision. Every room.

This Cinco de Mayo, we're celebrating layers—in design and in our favorite guacamole.
Our go-to recipe for gatherings:

3 ripe avocados, mashed
Juice of 1 lime
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup red onion, finely diced
1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
¼ cup cilantro, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: diced tomatoes for color

Mix gently, leaving some texture—perfection lies in the balance.
Just like a well-designed space, the best guacamole respects each ingredient's role while creating something greater than the sum of its parts.
