Performance-driven design extends beyond efficiency and aesthetics.

The Hilliard Hurricane Shelter demonstrates how architecture can support community resilience through thoughtful planning, durable construction, and life-safety-focused design. By anticipating environmental challenges and designing for long-term performance, facilities like this help communities prepare for an uncertain future.

Designing for resilience is ultimately about designing for people.

Construction is moving forward at Daniel Kids Midview Cottage, with structural steel and wall framing now in place as the future facility begins to take shape.

This milestone offers the first look at the scale and layout of the building, bringing the project one step closer to serving the children, families, and community who will benefit from the space.

We look forward to sharing additional progress as construction continues.

Completed in 2003, this adaptive reuse project transformed a former downtown office building into residential apartments, extending the life of an existing structure while supporting new residential activity in Downtown Jacksonville.

Working within an existing building requires balancing the opportunities and constraints of the original structure while creating spaces that successfully support a new purpose.

More than twenty years later, the project remains part of PQH Group Design's experience in adaptive reuse and redevelopment. As Downtown Jacksonville continues to evolve, it serves as a reminder that reimagining existing buildings has long played a role in supporting the city's growth.

Material selection is one of the most collaborative stages of the design process, bringing together aesthetics, performance, maintenance requirements, and client goals.

From finishes and color palettes to durability and long-term value, each selection is evaluated for how it will contribute to the overall character and performance of a space.

While these decisions happen early in the process, they play an important role in the finished environment and the experience it creates.

Creating workforce housing in Key West meant addressing a critical community need while preserving the character that makes the island unique.

Developed through a public-private partnership on land donated by the City of Key West, the project was designed in accordance with Historic Architectural Review Commission guidelines and draws inspiration from the city's distinctive architectural heritage.

From the crimp metal roofing and stucco finishes to the balconies and integrated public art, every element was carefully considered to create housing that feels connected to its surroundings.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can provide essential housing while celebrating the culture, history, and identity of the community it serves.

Every project begins with a vision, but transforming ideas into built environments requires thoughtful planning, technical coordination, and a clear understanding of how people will ultimately experience the space.

From early concepts and site planning to construction documentation and project delivery, architecture is a collaborative process shaped through careful attention to detail at every stage.
