Amy, the owner of Sunny + Olive Co, is a relationship/community gal! I met Amy when she came into my shop before she decided to rent her space. She introduced herself, taught me about her business, her model and her goals. She was also genuinely inquisitive and supportive of mine and the other shops here. Amy said she wanted to learn about her business "fit" before she jumped in. It's worth mentioning that she had already been to a list of other shops before she came to Reverie. It was a simple, thoughtful gesture that I won't forget. Welcome Amy and her team to Downtown Janesville. We love having her here!

We are going to consider staying open late on Thursday nights again next summer, but for now, we are evaluating our upcoming Holiday Hours. I love being open at least one night a week, and would love to do that for the Holiday's. Maybe Friday's? Stay tuned.

My mom would host bridge club at our house when I was growing up (back in the 70's-80's). She would scurry about cleaning and prepping our antique round oak table with press-backed chairs. Candy dishes and treats would be carefully placed to be accessible but not in the way of the cards and the game. The necessary items for Brandy Old Fashioned (sweet) were ready on the antique dry-sink she used as a bar, nearby. I remember hearing the group laugh, give life updates, support each other through ups and downs while sharing their stories. Bridge was community.

šŸƒ After the card game ended, the kitchen still held the evening’s laughter.

A deck sat slightly crooked beside the scorepad. Coffee cups had gone cold, the candy dish was nearly empty, and one chair still held a cardigan left behind in the excitement.

Friends did not need a formal occasion to gather. A weeknight game offered conversation, teasing, familiar rules, and the pleasure of knowing exactly whose deal it was.

The kitchen carried the evidence after everyone went home: crumbs, pencil marks, pushed-back chairs, and the comfortable quiet that follows a good visit.

Ordinary evenings like these became family history because they repeated often enough to feel permanent—until one day people realized how much they missed them.

What card game brought everyone to the table in your family?
