Some pieces just need somebody to see what they could be.

I had been eyeing this old checkout stand at the ReStore for months, saying over and over, ā€œIf nobody buys that, I’m going to.ā€

Eventually, I did.

A little Annie Sloan in French Linen and Original, a lot of love, and one very good deadline later, it became the outdoor bar I had been picturing all along, just in time for my niece’s bridal shower.

From checkout stand to cocktail hour. šŸ„‚

That’s the whole idea behind Helping Hands for Habitat: finding the potential, giving a piece a second life, and seeing where it ends up next.

This one just happened to follow me home. šŸ

We were so happy to host a couples shower and celebration for the upcoming wedding of my niece! Thanks to Almost’a Farm for delivering buckets of beautiful sunflowers, and to my friend Stacey of Florissimo for assembling them so deftly in several beautiful arrangements. Thanks also to Carla Kessell of Matriarcha Coffee and Kitchen who accepted the challenge of creating a rustic French menu and made so many delicious (and beautiful) dishes for our party! Last, but not least, thanks to Beth Reinsch, baker extraordinaire, who made delectable desserts to help us celebrate the end of a fun evening.
(It’s not often I get to spend an evening with all my sisters. I am so lucky to have the absolute best family ever!)

Congrats to Danielle and Jordan - we can’t wait to celebrate your wedding in November! Xoxo

Leave it to me to almost miss National Dog Day while sitting on a camera roll full of French dogs.

I spotted these sweet babies while enjoying the village of Sainte-Maxime during a recent trip celebrating my niece’s birthday and bachelorette, and of course, I had to grab a pic of nearly every one their sweet faces.

But the puppies weren’t the only things I came home thinking about. The colors, the old doors, the gardens, the markets, the way the French mix beautiful things without making them feel too precious… I came home inspired.

More of that soon. For tonight, enjoy the Le chiens. šŸ¤šŸ¾

An Easter table from a few years ago. I started with green leaf placemats, added white scalloped chargers, and layered in my favorite black and white checked dinner plates. From there, it was all about the details, mixing salad plates for a little personality, adding small bowls for fruit, and using simple white napkins and place cards that hold memories from gatherings past.
The flowers came straight from the yard, Red Bud, daffodils, and crab apple blossoms. I finished it with a few MacKenzie-Childs touches to tie it all together.
I’ve never believed a table needs to match perfectly. Just that it should feel thoughtful, layered, and full of things you love.

When I’m setting an Easter table, I don’t follow rules, but I do tend to come back to a good foundation, layered pieces, a few meaningful details… and something a little unexpected.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to feel like you.
Save this for later if you’re hosting this season šŸ¤

When someone asks how to decorate, I say begin with the things you love and let them share the room. 🐾

Our four legged family members are so important to us and have brought so much joy to our lives. They are here with us for such a short time, it doesn’t seem fair. 🌈 This past weekend, we had to say goodbye to Miss Sugar, who was almost 16 years old. She was such a sweetie and had such a funny personality. We will always be grateful for her unconditional devotion, her funny little walk and her happy, and sometimes bossy, yaps.
