AND…SO THE STORY GOES “We’re Really Doing This”
Once reality set in that this is happening…but how? How do I do this? To be honest…I had no idea what to do! So I started doing my research.
Placing my first order was a little stressful. All those thoughts that creep into your mind: What will people want? How many do I order? What if no one comes? What am I doing? And so many more! I found myself talking to God so many times through it all & asking if this is really what I’m supposed to be doing? But,
It all seemed to happen so quickly & everything just seemed to fall into place so we felt at peace with it!
The building got enclosed with all the electrical, plumbing and heating/cooling done…so now the fun begins! We wanted to do what we could ourselves 1) to save wherever we could and 2) thought it would be fun! 🤣 Thank goodness for family!
My two brothers Travis & Troy…their wives Kari & Stacy…and of course my sweet mom…all came to the rescue! The guys got busy placing the insulation while us girls got busy clear-coating all the wood. As wood dried the guys would hang it. A memory about this; As we are clear-coating and the guys are hanging I hear my brother Troy “Oops”. Me: “What happened?!?!”. Troy: “Nothing…just making it more rustic!”. This it what I love…all the memories created! And to think back now…I had no idea how many wonderful memories were to come!
Next…all that carefully selected merchandise started arriving! What do I do now? We are still working on the inside of the building…I can’t have it in there! So off to the basement in the house it goes…not ideal…but it works! Remember; we are flying by the seat of our pants on this journey!
All this merch needs to be opened…inspected…priced…and it’s a lot! Once again family steps in! Another memory: my sister Terry lived in Minnesota at the time & she came for a weekend & again my sweet mom! We opened boxes…and more boxes…and more boxes…and started pricing. Whew! Are we sure this is what I’m supposed to be doing God?
But what shall this shoppe of mine be called? I have no idea…again Lord I’m gonna need your help with this. Another memory: just driving home…turn on the gravel road…and two words come to me…COUNTRY BLESSINGS. Okay…that’s what the name will be!
And…so many blessings have come out here in the country! We opened our doors in June 2006. Waited until Fall to have a grand opening because…well who doesn’t love Fall!
Our first Fall Extravaganza! Again, family to the rescue! And the start of many blessings! You guys showed up & have stuck by us for over 20 years! God is good!
