Wow, another year has flown by and with 2022 in our rear view mirror I wanted to share some thoughts. Earth continues to turn, despite high interest rates and inflation but we have plenty to celebrate with loved ones and friends. Take a moment and think about how you can make next year better for yourself and those around you. Atlantic Stone will build new relationships in the coming year and invite you to contact us, friendly faces free of charge. Happy New Year!

The last couple of weeks, this year even, has been hectic. I plan on taking some personnel time to “hit the reset button” over the holidays and hope you all do the same. We need downtime for a somewhat balanced lifestyle in addition to our family and friends. This allows me to take a deep breath, reflect and prepare myself for next year. Sorry no stone advise today just a quick pause and reminder to “stop & smell the roses”
Merry Christmas or your equivalent!

Time stood still for several years, dominated by white and grey tones but much like the ocean, the tides are a changing. White & Grey still have a presence but say hello to the taupe and bronze hues, which are showing up in low country homes. These colors are coming back into focus due to there versatility and wide appeal. I’m old enough to have seen cyclical trends and it’s nice to see the world of tans returning
to the main stage. Take Care or yourself and your stones. Joe

The holiday season is among us and the smell of freshly baked treats and food fill the air. Take this time to apply a coat of sealer to your natural stone surfaces so the Grinch doesn’t leave you a unsightly stain. Atlantic Stone recommends periodic cleaning and sealing of your tops once a year. This will help protect your investment and continue years of beautiful service.

Color palettes are changing and the days of white & grey tones are shifting back to the neutrals. Trends change and the word on the street... bronze and cream tones are making a come back. I’ve already seen this taking hold in a few recent projects but it doesn’t seem to be mainstream, yet?

Spring is here and in full swing. Take time to inspect, clean and seal your stone and tile surfaces. This includes countertops, showers and outdoor spaces.

Spring is around the corner and it’s time to think about “spring cleaning” in and around your home or workplace. Either way, take some time to inspect your countertops one of your largest investments and see if they need some TLC. Natural stone should be cleaned periodically and sealed once a year to help protect from spills and stains. This is common knowledge but also inspect the caulk joint around your sink contout which can dis-color and weaken over time. New constructuon homes will settle and you might need to touch up caulk/grout joints where a tile backsplash intersects onto your countertops. If you don’t want cavities then brush your teeth, it’s preventative maintenance. The same is true for your natural stone countrtops.

Many people are wondering about quartz counter tops versus natural stones such as granite, quartzite and marble. Here are my thoughts between the two. Technology is truly making strides and quartz, which is comprised of 93% quartz aggregate and 7% resin is producing realistic marble finishes that most of us can't tell the difference. Natural stone is natural beauty, in my opinion technology hasn't caught up to mother nature when it comes to offering the wide range, variety, movement and colors. That being said, I need you to think about your lifestyle. If you have a young family or sloppy in general then quartz is the way to go. If you clean up after yourself or an empty nester then natural stone is certainly an option. Five years ago, quartz accounted for 5% of my business but today the number is closer to 25%. Pricing varies but you have lower and higher price points with both categories.
