Happy Friday!! Friday is probably my favorite day of the week. It’s when I can get stuff done. Saturdays are good, too, but Friday is my day. It’s when I can feel like I can finally relax after a week of running and going and doing. We live in such a fast-paced world today that we often forget how long processes can take and how long things can be dragged out for. So, it’s always best to make sure that you have everything in place so that there aren’t any unnecessary delays. One thing that can make your build easier to make sure you have a house plan before you go to the bank for your building loan. So, let’s take a look at some lovely house plans on this lovely sunny(!) Friday.

This past Sunday was a very important day in weather forecasting, but I think that it got overshadowed a bit by the Super Bowl. It was Groundhog’s Day and whether or not you believe that a rodent can predict the weather, I choose to believe that this year he may have been on the right track. This winter has been cold, wet and horrible. We didn’t get any snow and, thankfully, we didn’t get any ice, but it rained. And it rained. And it rained some more. And I think its going to rain most of today. And the temperatures have been on that hairs edge away from frigid. So, I’m looking forward to that Groundhog being right and spring just being a few short weeks away.

Spring is the time when most builders want to get started on their builds. They want to be able to hit the ground running as soon as it starts to dry out some and that is usually late spring. So, if you are looking to build during this build season, now is the time to get those plans. If you are looking for a custom plan, you definitely need to get those plans going now rather than later.

Well this Sunday is the big game. This year the Superbowl is featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Two teams that haven’t seen the Superbowl in a long time and honestly, I think I would be stoked for either one of them to win. So, this year, instead of focusing on the rivalry between the teams or which team might be better or worse than the other, lets just cook some great food and enjoy the game!

This week the weather has been positively nasty. It's been cold, wet and it just won't stop raining. I'm hoping that next week that silly groundhog doesn't see his shadow and that we can get spring in here a bit sooner. That would be so nice. Warm breezes, the sun warming your face, being able to wear flip flops and roll the windows down on the car. Ah... It will be glorious. Until then, let's look at some great new plans. That should cheer us up.

For years, I resisted setting up my Google assistant on my phone. I always thought of it as something that would be listening to everything that I said and did and be kind of invasive. Recently, I found myself needing a pair of extra hands. So, I set up my Google assistant on my phone and started using it for tons of different things. I didn’t realize how many different tasks that little program can do. Did you know that you can now install things that are controlled by your assistant or Siri to change things in your house?

While I knew about smart home accessories in theory, I honestly thought that they were just going to be a gimmick that died out. Back in the early 2000’s, there was the first wave of the “Smart Home” devices. These were hardwired into your home and you had to have separate controls for everything. Those didn’t last very long. I thought the new wave of smart home devices would be the same way. But these are not what we had back in the day. They are innovative and easy to install and use. And most importantly, they are affordable.

As the new decade beckons, we find ourselves looking at trends that are going to be the new norm. Last year was the year of the modern farmhouse and that idea has reigned supreme for several years now. Now we are looking for something a bit more complicated. One of the newest trends in home design and house planning is not a style or a type of house, but rather a feature that is being sought after. People are looking for a large, efficient kitchen so that they can make their gourmet dreams a reality.

Now that the new decade is beginning its time for some changes. Time to break out the old exercise equipment and get started on those new year’s resolutions. Time to get fit and to make sure we drink enough water. I’m going to get started on that as soon as I finish browsing these awesome house plans.
Seriously, though, this year I think the trends are going to expand on a couple of things from the last few years. One of those is a “Drop Zone” type of area. A drop zone is basically a place where you come in and you can “drop” everything off before you start your family time. This is where you can store the backpacks and purses or the shoes and coats and keep them all together. For some families, this is where you drop off your cell phones!

From eye catching chevron patterns in every color of the rainbow to the minimalist movement inspired by the Scandinavian winters, this decade has been a blur of interior decorating trends. While I think that the decade will be remember more for the Modern Farmhouse movement and the resurgence of the Mid-Century aesthetic, there were many other phases and styles that came through during this time.

Another decade has come and gone, and time marches on. This decade has seen some remarkable trends take shape. Trends with home design are no different. These past few years we’ve had almost two completely opposite trends come into focus when it comes to house plans and home design. On the one hand we have the Modern Farmhouse look. This style is very down to Earth and almost rustic. On the other hand, we have the Contemporary Modern look.

While this style was very popular in the 1950’s and 1960’s, it is now seeing a resurgence among younger homeowners. While these styles may be polar opposites in terms of the materials and methods used, one thing that I think they have in common is that they are both hailing from a simpler time. I think that is really what the trends of the past decade were trying to manifest; a return to a simpler time.

This year marks the end of another decade and we’ve had so many things happen over the last ten years. Home design is no different. Ten years ago, we would have never guessed what would end up being the most popular trends. One of those trends from the last decade was the modern farmhouse. In both home design and interior design, the modern farmhouse trend has skyrocketed, and it doesn’t look like its going to be coming back down to earth any time soon. Thanks to people like Chip and Jo Gaines and Ree Drummond, the modern farmhouse look is here to stay.

And I have to admit that I’m a fan of this look, too! Its something that is simple and timeless and lends itself to many different spaces. Of course, if you can start out with a great farmhouse house plan, then that’s so much better for you! So, let’s look at some great farmhouse plans and see if we can’t tickle your fancy towards this down-home style one more time.
