The Yarn Asylum

The Yarn Asylum The Yarn Asum, as a physical location, has closed. Mill Spring Makers Market still carries some yarn, including locally made yarns.

I am still available by phone and zoom, for lessons, help with projects, etc.

Well, it has been warm, magical, and wonderful. But this chapter is now ended. Keep stitching, y'all!

Sadly, The Yarn Asylum, at least in its current form, is going to close.
Starting July 9, all tools, notions, patterns, and kits are half off the marked price. Consigned local yarns are still regular price, but all commercial yarns are also half price.
I will continue to teach lessons via zoom, or masked and in person at my home's screen porch, weather permitting.
It has been a wonderful four and a half years, and I have enjoyed meeting, encouraging, and stitching with all my lovely customers. The end of one chapter is the beginning of the next one, though.
Peace and blessing,
Deb

Melinda will be opening the Makers Market on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 10-3, for the next few weeks.

If you still prefer to get yarn, tools, and notions via no-contact pickup on my porch, that service will continue on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. All classes and lessons will continue to be held via zoom or Messenger video calls.

My grandson is turning 5 next week, and I won't be able to visit as planned...but these two, his favorite superheroes, will go into the mail Monday, to be there in time.
What are y'all crocheting and knitting as we isolate? Please post pics, and admire one another's work!

Melinda just announced that today is the last day Mill Spring Makers Market will be open till April 4.
You all know that the Yarn Asylum is not open if the whole building is not open... So if you need yarn, tools, or notions, today is the last day to buy local, for a while, at least.
Stay well and stitch much. I am still available for phone, text, and video call lessons and classes.

Dear friends and customers, I hope you are all staying well!
I had planned to keep classes and lessons going as long as possible through the epidemic...and most of you know the precautions we have been taking in the shop to protect everyone from virus spread; but some things changed over the weekend. For family reasons, we have decided to self-isolate at home for at least the next 2 weeks. However, we are both still committed to our students!
If you have a class or lesson scheduled, we can pursue group classes via zoom, and individual lessons or help with projects via zoom or Facebook video calling. Some of you have had video conference lessons with me previously.
If you are part of a group, such as the Thursday Bunny class, or the Friday Knitting School, please pm me your email, and I will schedule a zoom meeting for our regular time. You will need to download the zoom app on your own device. This is what college and other classes are doing, and allows us all to see and hear each other in real time, as a group.
If you have a private lesson, you can choose fb video call or zoom, just let me know your preference. Zoom sessions are limited to 45 minutes on the free app; fb video calls don't have a time limit.
If you just need help with a project, as always, you can call, text with pictures, or have a facebook video call.
For projects where you need me to fix a mistake, we have to be more careful. Place your project inside a paper bag and roll and tape or staple it shut. Let it sit for 48 hours unopened. Write your name on the bag. Then you may bring it by my house (265 E. Main St.)and leave it on the table on the front porch. I will fix it, place it back in the bag, and in 48 hours it should be safe for you to take home and work on. I'm basing this plan on my understanding of current CDC information about how long the coronavirus lives on porous surfaces.
I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience or stress these measures may cause, and I hope to reunite, joyfully, with you all, in real life, as soon as it is safe to do so.
Peace, blessing, and Happy Stitching!
Deb
