Joachim von Ribbentrop (1893–1946) was a German diplomat and prominent N**i official who served as Adolf Hi**er’s Foreign Minister from 1938 until the end of World War II. Born in Wesel, Germany, Ribbentrop served in the German Army during World War I and later became involved in the N**i Party, where his connections and diplomatic skills helped him rise rapidly. As Foreign Minister, he played a major role in Germany’s aggressive foreign policy, including negotiations that led to the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact with the Soviet Union in 1939 and diplomatic efforts surrounding Germany’s expansion across Europe. He remained loyal to Hi**er throughout the war and was closely associated with the regime’s policies, including its persecution and deportation of Jews. After Germany’s defeat in 1945, Ribbentrop was captured by Allied forces and tried before the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg. He was found guilty of crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, sentenced to death, and hanged at Nuremberg Prison on October 16, 1946. He was the first of the principal N**i defendants executed that morning.
