If you’ve been in the shop, you’ve probably seen this sign and asked me about my cats.

While I know I *should* use this account to tell you about blankets and other fun trinkets I have for sale- I’m gonna take a second to talk about KITTEN SEASON.

Yes, there is a season. In SoCal, it’s kind of a year round deal these days but as the weather warms up and spring starts springing the kittens start kittening. Our local shelters (Yucca, , , ) and so many more are operating at 100-300% capacity right now— aka the shelters that aren’t no kill are euthanizing kittens DAILY! And while that sounds very sad- and is very sad- kittens need care every 2-3 hours. Most shelters don’t have/can’t afford 24 hour staff. Therefore, kittens are humanely euthanized at the end of the shift so they don’t die of starvation in the shelter overnight.

I’ve been fostering since 2015 and haven’t had a single regret (other than a few sleepy work shifts and occasionally -always- being covered in animal hair).

Fostering takes a small amount of your home, a bit of your time, a big heart that can handle some tears, but is overall one of THEE most rewarding experiences I can recommend. Save a life, make a friend for a bit, rinse, and repeat.
