Well… the cutting board saga continues.
I managed to mess up the maple inlay cut on this end grain board. Went too deep on the maple plug, and now I’m trying to decide how to save it.
Option 1: Recut the walnut base and go a bit deeper so the maple sits proud, then sand everything flush.
Option 2: Try a few light surfacing passes on the maple plug to bring it down to the walnut and hope it cleans up without blowing out the detail.
For those of you who’ve done inlays or CNC work – what would you do? I’m treating this as a learning piece no matter what, just trying to pick the least dumb path forward.
Either way, this board is getting finished. 💪
