Buttery Burger Buns Recipe
INGREDIENTS
3/4 Cups Water, 100 degrees F
3 Tbsp Maple Syrup or Honey
2 1/4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
3 1/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
3 Tbsp Butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
1 Egg
Egg Wash:
1 Egg
1 Splash of Water
DIRECTIONS
1. In your stand mixer combine water, sweetener of choice, yeast. Let sit until that becomes all bubbly, 5-10 minutes.
2. Add the AP flour, butter, sea salt and the first egg. knead the dough on low until it just come together. Then turn up the speed to medium and mix for 5-7 minutes. You want the dough to be smooth. *1
3. Shape dough into a rough ball and place back in bottom of bowl. Cover + let proof until doubled. *2
4. Punch down dough and divide with a scraper or knife into eight equal pieces.
5. Pull each side of the dough ball to the bottom of the ball, place on counter, make a C with you hand and drag the ball around the counter in a circle. the bottom with close itself up.
6. Place buns on lined sheet pan. press down to create the bun shape. Cover and let rest for another 30-45 minutes. MEANWHILE - preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
7. Test the buns by lightly indenting a bun on the top with your finger and make sure it springs back.
8. Whisk together 1 egg and splash of water. Wash each bun.
9. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden. Butter tops of buns generously and ENJOY!
