What's on the bench?! This is a mid-century wood/brass chandelier from a house in the Country Side neighborhood of KC (adjacent to Loose Park). The house is almost all original ranch with pea green linoleum, weeping brick joints, and original 1960s fixtures. The client wants to keep this chandelier but get rid of the frosted hurricane shades with grapes etched on them. Instead, I'll be installing taller porcelain sockets that will last much longer than the original dried out plastic ones that cracked after decades of heat. They will receive ivory candle sleeves and as such we'll eliminate the hurricane shades.

I'm all about easy quick fixes to extend the life of something and keep it out of the landfill. When our vacuum broke, I jammed it back together with PVC cement and a screw to hold the head back on to the body. This will buy us a while before ultimately needing to replace 😉

Just finished this Spanish revival chandelier this evening, and I'm obsessed. It got new wiring, sockets, and fiber drip candle sleeves. Also got a good scrubbing and a fresh coat of lacquer. It looks even better in person!! Cost on this was $153. That breaks out to $53 in parts and $100 labor. It took me just under 3 hours to completely finish.
