Four years later, this is still one of the sweetest spaces we’ve had the chance to create.

Designed for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City, Breathe was imagined as a real salon, not a clinical version of one. A place for a haircut, a manicure, a character wig, or simply a few minutes spent feeling a little more like yourself.

It’s a small space, but a good reminder that design can change how a moment feels.

Opportunities like this don't come around often, and it was a privilege to work with Strata Architecture + Preservation to help steward a Frank Lloyd Wright home with the care, collaboration, and craftsmanship it deserves. We got a call that started with: "classic meets quirk. The last design team couldn't figure it out." The Hilltop Tudor was built in 1926. The original stair railing, shield motifs, bones that deserved respect. But its owners are anythign but traditional. They wanted a home that honored its history and reflected who they actually are: polished, eclectic, and not afraid of a little fiber art over the fireplace.

The secret to designing for historic homes isn't choosing between old and new. It's finding the tension between them and making them feel intentional. a 1926 tudor and a large-format contemporary photograph over the sofa aren't opposites- they're a conversation.

A mid-century Drummond house had been buried under decades of sheetrock. Literally.

When the owners of this Prairie Village home came to us, they wanted to restore what the house had always been, not update it into something it wasn't. So we started pulling things off rather than adding them. The original vaulted ceiling came back. The brick fireplace, painted for fresh appeal, became the anchor it was always meant to be. A new window brought in the light the room had been missing for years.

Custom walnut cabinetry, cork floors, and terrazzo tile in the baths brought the conveniences of modern life in without disturbing the peace of a home that knew exactly what it was.

Featured in Atomic Ranch magazine. Some houses just need someone to listen to them.

Over time, this Mission Hills home has gone through three thoughtful phases. Throughout each phase our team worked to create a space that fosters connections, invites people to gather, and will be used for years to come. This living room features rich fabrics, layered textures, and balanced lighting that bring depth, warmth, and visual interest to the space.

Across every phase, the intention remains the same: to refine without erasing, and to let the home become increasingly well suited to the life it holds.

After, and Before: At Hostess House, we didn't add a single square foot. We just stopped wasting the ones already there.
What used to be two separate, slightly dark rooms, a home gym and a sitting room, is now one bright, open living space with more seating and a seamless connection to indoor/outdoor living. Same footprint. Completely different way of living in it.
Sometimes the best renovation isn't about more space, it's about finally using the space you have.
