Before you hire someone for your auto glass, here's something worth knowing from Carlos Young of Superior Glass and Calibration: look for AGSC certification (Auto Glass Safety Council). It's the industry's own safety standard, covering things like the polyurethane seals that hold your windshield in place.

A cheaper install might save you a few bucks up front — but your windshield is a structural part of your vehicle. It's not the place to cut corners. Superior Glass and Calibration is AGSC certified, and Carlos wants every driver to know to ask that question before they hire anyone.

What makes Superior Glass and Calibration different? For Carlos and Yvonne, it's personal. Automotive is in the family — Yvonne's father worked for Ford, and her grandfather was a Ford engineer. Carlos still remembers part numbers from 30 years ago.

But it's more than the know-how. As Carlos said, "Where we're going to excel is in our give a damn. We care about the families we serve, the companies we serve, and the communities we serve."

This week on the BNI Westside Member Spotlight, meet Carlos Young of Superior Glass and Calibration in Richmond, TX.

Between Carlos and his wife Yvonne, they've got 30 years of automotive experience — starting way back at Ford in Dearborn. After building (and selling) a few other businesses together, Yvonne asked Carlos a simple question: "What could you be passionate about?" His answer took him right back to where it all started. As Carlos put it, getting into auto glass and calibration felt "like a return to our first love — which is automotive."
