Cereal Name!

Practice letter recognition and learning your name and more!

Supplies: pen, paper, cereal!

Here we used Cheerios. Discuss how to spell the name. Depending on age, discuss the letters, curved versus straight lines, capital versus lowercase, the number of letters in the name, smell/taste of the cereal, add last name, etc.

This is still one of my favorite activities! Learning about germs! 🦠

Supplies: pepper, a bowl, water, dish soap, and a finger

Put water in a bowl. Have the child pour in some pepper (that’s the germs). Stick one finger in the bowl and see the pepper stick to the finger. Take another finger and put some dish soap on it and watch the “germs” run away.

“This is why we wash our hands.”

Animal rescue! Great for fine motor skills!

Supplies needed: animals and tape!

To make this more complicated, can add more layers of tape and more animals. Discuss animals sounds, where they live, what they eat. Can discuss what letter they start with. You can also added a scissor component (toddler safe scissors with supervision of course).

Car Color Match

Drive each car along the correct color path to its colored garage.

Supplies:
cars different colors
paper
crayons
magnets (or blocks or little boxes colored red or a piece of colored construction paper)

Supplies: white paint, black paper, paint brush, q-tips. I used a white crayon to write his name.

Floor block puzzle! Create shapes on the floor with tape. Choose toys to fill in the shapes!

Supplies: tape and toys (blocks, cars, etc)

Pictures we have a square, triangle, and hexagon.

Get the dialogue going by discussing the shapes. How many sides does a hexagon have? Boost problem solving skills. How can we fill in these empty spaces?
