"How do I know if my pipes are old and need replacing?"
Most homeowners don’t think about their pipes until there’s a problem, but just like anything else in your home, pipes wear out over time. Here are some signs your pipes might be getting old and need replacing:
1. Discolored Water – If your water looks rusty or brown, it could mean your pipes are corroding on the inside.
2. Low Water Pressure – Buildup inside old pipes can restrict water flow, leading to poor pressure.
3. Frequent Leaks – One leak might be a fluke, but if you’re patching things often, your pipes could be on their last leg.
4. Strange Noises – Banging, rattling, or gurgling sounds in the pipes can mean they’re loose, worn, or corroded.
5. Pipe Material & Age – Homes built before the 1970s may have galvanized steel or even lead pipes—both can degrade over time and should be replaced.
If any of these sound familiar, it might be time to call in the pros. Catching pipe problems early can save you a lot of stress and money in the long run.
