🕷️ Day 1 of Joro Watch is off to a strong start!

Thanks to our community of citizen scientists, we received 416 reports on October 12, including 375 confirmed Joro spider sightings submitted by 258 reporters across 82 counties in 5 states. Thanks to your reports, Yancey County, North Carolina, is no longer a gap on the map, adding a new county record and the first Joro Watch 2026 award - "County Champ" to that reporter.

Every report helps us track this invasive species and improve our distribution map.
📍 Report sightings at JoroWatch.org, EDDMapS.org, or through the EDDMapS app
📸 Attach clear photos of the spider
🏆 Compete for awards like County Champ, Super Spotter, and Golden Lens
🗺️ Help document new county records

Thank you for making Day 1 a success. Keep the reports coming all week long!

💚🐸

Cooler nights can send tree frogs into sheltered crevices and protected corners around Georgia homes. These hiding places offer refuge from changing conditions, which can make the frogs suddenly noticeable in some unusual spots.
