Out of office ✌️
The rest of the team is still reachable but B & I are taking some time away with family to enjoy a bit of summer before September is here.

Go find your sunshine.

There's something about a booth that makes you want to settle in.

For this front corner of the café, we wanted to create a spot that felt comfortable and inviting while still being a part of the energy of the room. The upholstered banquette adds a little softness, while the collected artwork keeps it from feeling too polished or precious.

A sailboat, a tiny crab, a bit of blue water - small nods to being at the shore.

The curved banquette and bistro chairs bring in a more modern, almost urban sensibility, which helps balance the nostalgia and keeps the space from leaning too traditional or too coastal.

We kept coming back to the idea that coastal design doesn't have to mean obvious, or theme-y. Sometimes it can just be a palette, a material, a familiar shape, or a collection of things that feel like they might have gathered here over time.

Bright, comfortable, nostalgic, and hopefully the kind of spot you're happy to claim for a while.

Spoiler alert: it's become the most popular seat in the cafe.

We love making magical spaces ✨️ and this kids play space inside our recent café project was no exception.

This room went through several iterations and changes - mostly due to structural challenges and constraints discovered during the construction process - but in the end we still made sure we packed as much function and fun into this room as we could.

Did you know that we design kids spaces too?
This dutch door was designed specifically for our café project in Ocean City, NJ.

The Dutch door model allows children to be safely contained in the playroom (it is a *busy* café) while parents sitting in the lounge area just outside the door can still hear and interact with their kids at play.

The portal windows on the door tied into our coastal yacht inspired design for the café while also adding a whimsical and fun elements for kids and adults alike.

The little countertop was a fun addition to play time. Want to order your coffee from the 6 year old barista playing inside? It's the perfect "pretend play" addition.

And if you want to be with your kids inside the room, there is a comfy adult-sized bench inside with a tray to rest your beverage on!

Okayyyyy.... just one little sneak peek this time.
You know I'm terrible at keeping these to myself! I'm so proud of our team and how this project has come together and just in time for all the shoobies (myself included) to enjoy for summer!!

Did you know "Shoobies" is a nickname that started in the late 19th century because daytrippers to the beach would bring their lunches in shoeboxes? Just a fun fact for ya!

Anywho.... some people like stuffed Marlins on their walls. We prefer cute ceramic fish. Thanks for always having *exactly* the right thing!

Perusing some of our photography today for a *special something* we're working on and was reminded how much I still love this color and pattern mixing we did on our much loved Haddonfield project.

Also, the incredible amount of trade talent and coursing that went into just this single photograph! We love our vendors 💚
