Everyone please join me in wishing the shop Corgi a happy 4th birthday! She goes by many names - Noki, Nokes, Nokester, Mamby, Notes, Toe Bean McQueen, Miss Ma’am, and more - but she’ll always be our little baby corg. There’s not much she loves more than being in the shop and stealing wood chips and plane shavings to chew on.

Plane till casework has been dry fitted, just need to add the backer and the dividers and glue it up (with clear dry, of course!).

Then I can organize that mess of planes on the toolbox in the background. Should make this feel more like a proper woodshop, at least until I find more planes that I just can’t live without and cover the toolbox again 😅

This has been largely built with hand tools, minus some roughing work at the table saw and band saw. All of the joinery is hand cut.

Hand Tool Haven 2026 was a wonderful experience! Saw some old friends, made new friends, experienced the generosity of the creative community, raised some $ for a great cause ( ) and came home with some beautiful tools, but more importantly, beautiful memories and connections.

I couldn’t capture everything, but here are some photos of particularly special goodies that returned home with me. Extra special thanks to , , Don Williams and his wife (whose name escapes me, but if you know it, please send it to me so I can write them both a thank you note!), for donating the DX-60 and for the skillful engraving (and for organizing an incredible event!), the team at for including me in this show, Lee from Buckeye Vintage Woodworking tools for helping me cross the 4 1/2 off my list, for her outstanding coordination of the volunteers at HTH, and so many more that I’m surely leaving some deserving folks out.

Some of these items I purchased and some were unexpected gifts. The generosity of this community never fails to amaze me and I’m humbled to be a part of it.

Swipe to the end to see what 8 days of trade shows looks like on my face…
