Just making a rug…it’s a family thing! Did you know all of our rugs are made on flat looms in the homes of very talented Afghan women? A tradition and skill that has been passed down for many generations. We use high mountain hand spun wool that is dyed with organic plant dyes. The one pictured above will eventually be placed at the new Ketchum hotel.

What do you do with a giant 15’x22’ rug?
Cut it into four identical pieces…and make runners! At Davies Reid, we bind the cut edges of the rug with dyed wool that matches, and keep tying knots until all 22’ of it is finished…the final piece that we finished yesterday is gorgeous. Look at it!
We have three more identical pieces to complete. Come by the store to see how it’s done, or to put your name on one of these runners before they are gone. ✨
