Dayton-area homeowners - the case for NOT moving just got a lot stronger.
Here’s what September’s housing numbers actually mean for you. 👇
New-home starts fell 7.4% from a year ago, to a 1.2 million annual pace (Census Bureau/HUD).
Completions dropped 14% - the fewest finished homes since 2019 - so there’s even less new inventory coming in 2027.
Builders are sitting on 279,000 approved projects they haven’t started, waiting for demand to come back.
And pending home sales fell 11.3% year over year - the fewest signed contracts since this index began in 2001 (NAR).
Translation: fewer new homes are being built, fewer are getting finished, and move-in-ready homes are scarce.
Here’s the biggest part most people miss - a smart remodel pays you back twice.
You get a home that finally works now.
And when you sell, updated kitchens, baths and finished space raise how buyers value it and help maximize your return - because in a market this short on move-in-ready homes, that’s exactly what buyers are paying up for.
A smarter kitchen. A real primary bath. A finished lower level - and a stronger number at the closing table.
We design-build these across Dayton & the Miami Valley.
Save this if you’ve been going back and forth on “move or improve.”
