At Dray's Oily Garden we listen to the message the cardinal 🐦 brings. We don't harvest the 🌸 that the 🦋 and 🪲 rest upon.
Here, babies discover the texture of pollen stained fingers in their mouths and eat the same berries as the birds. Here, we harvest flowers for phytoestrogenic consumption, bath and herbal tea🌱 blends, body oils and salves, while a pot of oatmilk infuses on the stove with turmeric, cinnamon, flower petals and leaves, yarrow, and rosehip seeds. 🌹
Plantain is free to thrive on every footpath through these gardens, with Veronica and dandelion , wild chicory, and white clover. Around the corner near the footholds, past the grapevine 🍇and luffa arbor, we grow pokew**d, milkw**d, bee Balm 🐝 , willow herb, daisy fleabane, and horseradish. And beneath the catalpas, the soft juicy leaves of jewel w**d protect us from the bramble thorns of wineberry and black raspberries leading to the wood fern rain 🌧 garden that encourages the white snake root and comfrey to return every year.
Here, the old pots and dug up glass bottles from more than 50 years ago become part of the 🧚♀️ fairy garden for us tinkers, along our path toward witch hazel way, where the blue vervain and elecampane waver back and forth with the gentle breeze.
