Outback Antiques The Hudson Valley's Largest Collection of Antique & Vintage Clothing & Fine Linens - All in an approximate 150 Year Old Barn We started Outback Antiques.

Two years after I married my husband, Bill, we started to look for a house with the potential for opening an antique shop. We found an old farm house with a barn only a couple blocks from the Uptown shopping area of Kingston and a short drive from the New York State Thruway. The barn was large with hand hewn beams and was about 100 years old at the time. My father would find furniture, crocks, too

ls, etc. These were things that were mostly of interest to men. But I had always had a love for fancy linens, and antique and vintage, clothing. After about 11years of business, I started growing the textile end of the business. It grew to be the shop that I have now. It is an antique shop filled with a wonderfully large collection of fancy linens, quilts, tablecloths, clothing, etc. The clothing ranges from the mid-1800's to the 1970's. There are even a few pieces for men. The ladies always had the most clothing and it is hard to find men's clothing - they wore them out. I still have a good mix of furniture, tools, glassware, and china, too. I had always loved fashion and even did pencil sketches in my teens. I always had an eye for display. I would have loved to have been a window dresser. I am a clone of my grandmother. When my cousin saw my house, she said it was "just like walking into Nannie's house". My shop is a feast for the eye and I love setting it up and meeting so many interesting people. Some of my customers are now my closest friends. My best friend came as a customer 27 years ago. I have been in this business for 42 years and I love doing it. But now I have to adjust to the times in getting the word out about the shop, so here is my webpage.
