We are delighted to be working with a team in Hawaii to master plan their land for their coffee farm and discipleship school. 🤙🏼🌊

Our process of working with the team is very collaborative. The process starts out with workshops to learn about them, the community, and the culture. This integration doesn’t stop there.

We continue learning and adapting throughout the process to keep the project aligned with the vision, goals, and culture.

We’re not just plopping builds on a site - there are SO many considerations that go into a well-design site that integrates into a community.

What is one design consideration you wish Architects & Designers implemented with site/urban planning?

What makes lighting more accessible? đź’ˇ

Each person’s needs may vary, but there are a few principles that can be followed to make a space more accessible when it comes to illumination. Here are three considerations:

✨ Indirect Lighting - rather than blasting the space with down light, swap it out for a majority of indirect and diffused lighting, accept at work/task areas.

✨ Lighting as wayfinding - use lighting creatively. Make a line of line to the main path you want people to follow, or accent with undercabinet or undercounter lights.

✨ Light Temperature - the lighting temperature is the color of the light - cool to warm. A warmer color temperature will feel cozy, cooler will feel sterile. Create a welcoming space with warmer tones!

What would you add to the list?

Introducing our Trinity United Methodist church project in collaboration with BPH Architects! This beautiful midcentury modern space needed a refresh, and we were invited in to design the materials/finishes.

We selected the:
✨ Carpet
✨ Paint
✨ Gave direction with furniture

In the design, we wanted to keep nods to the mid-century era, while modernizing the colors/patterns.

This space went from having mustard yellow carpet into a fresh timeless pallet.

What do you think? Would you want to hang out here?

We’re excited to share this church children’s area refresh at New Life Church in Renton, WA! Threefold designed and specified the new fun, kid-friendly, rubber flooring for the space.

The church also commissioned an artist to create the Bible themed murals, and we wanted the flooring to compliment and flowed with the interactions happening on the walls.

So, we designed a meandering pattern that aligns with the color changes on the walls, so it feels as if the murals are coming to life.

Location:
Flooring: / Nora Rubber

Accessibility Description: Video of Bible themed foyer includes existing tiled area with textile canopies and red/brown brick that flows into the Nativity scene with a play area that flows into Jesus’ baptism, Jesus’ calms the sea, the Garden of Eden, and then to the left is Noah’s ark and the crucifixion.

Green spaces in buildings provide an abundance of benefits for physical and mental health. Bringing the outdoors in is becoming increasingly popular in Architecture as a way to connect with nature, even with inclimate weather.

Everyday, we are growing our awareness of how to design spaces with an inclusive lens. A few ways to make green spaces accessible include providing hardscape pathways, seating, lighting, and non-slip surfaces can also ensure safe access so that everyone can enjoy the green space.

We’re grateful to work with experts in accessibility and universal design, so that the buildings we design are welcoming for everyone.

Did you know that incorporating plants into building design not only adds aesthetic value but also improves air quality?

Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, while also filtering out pollutants from the air. They can remove harmful toxins from the air we breathe, which is especially important in urban environments where air pollution is a concern.

Indoor plants can improve productivity, reduce stress, and even improve mental health. They can also help to create a more welcoming and calming atmosphere, benefiting both the physical and mental wellbeing of occupants.

What is one of your favorite plants to see in a building?

How It All Began

My design story began in my bedroom when I was nine years old. Growing up the northwest, I enjoyed the outdoors, but also rearranging my bedroom. The passion for design and organizing continued to grow as I received my Bachelors of Arts in Interior Design. Then, has matured as I apply the concepts, ideas, and creativity to my everyday work in the architecture/design field. My experience spans many project types from church, non-profits, coffee shops, public & private schools, office space, and more. Creating environments that encourage and inspire the inhabitants is my goal.

In my learning endeavors, I strive to find essentialist methods to my workflow and continually improve my communication with the teams I work with. Having opportunities to mentor and share creative insights sparks my fire!

To broaden my creative juices, I started a blog to help women organize their home around what matters most to them (threelimepines.com). With a growing audience and consistent content, I’ve learned about writing, marketing, social media, and the importance of sharing your story with others.
