If you've noticed that I've been quiet on here lately, it's for a couple of good reasons.

Reason #1: I had right ankle surgery on July 8 and have suffered complications every since. These include severe swelling, redness, and pain when my foot is not elevated above my heart. I can't stand or sit with my foot on the ground for more than 30 minutes without serious consequences. That reduces my ability to sew to zero.

Reason #2: We're moving, and with all of the packing that needs to be done combined with my limited mobility due to Reason #1... Yeah, you get it.

I'm hoping to be back in business this fall, have my Etsy shop back live, and participate in a holiday market or two once we get settled in to Delta Junction, but we'll just have to see what my foot decides to do.

We are moving from Sutton to Delta Junction, Alaska, at the end of September. Because of this, my shop is closed, and everything is packed up, but we will reopen in October, just in time for Christmas!

I've been kicking around a new idea for Crooked Cabin, and I'd love your feedback!

I love smoked foods, but not everyone has a smoker or the time to spend hours creating that rich, smoky flavor. That's why I've been thinking about making small-batch smoked salts that could instantly add a delicious smoky taste to meats, vegetables, potatoes, eggs, soups, popcorn, and more.

I'm considering offering them in:
🧂 Reusable canisters for local sales
🧂 Resealable stand-up pouches for online orders

I'm also thinking about experimenting with different wood-smoke flavors, such as alder, applewood, cherry, or hickory.
