Houston, TX has an amazing Zoo!! We were only there for 1/2 a day but there is so much to see and the animals where out and about even late in the evening. Definitely going again someday! Houston Zoo

San Antonio had a lot of activities. #1 was the San Antonio Art Museum; all the around the world art/artifacts was amazing. I loved loved loved the Greek and Egyptian.
Best place to eat is at The Monarch; best view with amazing food.
Parking is not free but the cheapest would be the Convention Center Parking ($10-$15 a Day).
Be prepared to walk everywhere to save money on Parking and Ubers....
