Hi friends!

I’m taking a little break from social media. While I’ve loved sharing my work here and connecting with you all, I’ve realized it’s not where I most enjoy spending my time. I’m soaking up these sweet elementary years with my kids while continuing to work on design projects behind the scenes—they’re both keeping me busy in the best way!

I’m still working on projects behind the scenes and helping people design spaces they love—I’m just not posting about it as often. If you’re interested in working together, feel free to reach out via email or through my website.

Spaces that scream summer☀️

I've designed vacation rentals with the tiniest little balcony and others with a huge three-story deck — no matter how big the rental is, outdoor living space is essential in the Smokies! A fire pit, hot tub, pool, grill, dining space, and even just an outdoor seating area can elevate any mountain rental. There's just something extra special about spending time with loved ones outside.

I don't know about y'all, but we're soaking in the last bit of summer while we can — spending time at the pool, the lake, and in the backyard whenever possible. We live in such a beautiful place with the prettiest seasons. 🌿🌻🌳

Styled this Maryville home into a cozy space for living and hosting... 👉

Sometimes all you need is a bit of styling to transform your home (swipe to the end for photos taken before styling).

What is styling? It's the last part of the design process, when you bring in more of your personal touches and pull everything together with decorations and final pieces that complete a space - from art and pillows to shelves and coffee tables.

A lot of people get stuck in the styling phase, but don't let styling scare you away. Start with things you already have and love - your favorite art, your go-to blankets, family heirlooms, special photos - and then add in more pieces as you find them. It doesn't get much more "American" than this basement gym, bonus room, and office. 🇺🇸😆 Happy 4th!

This was my clients' dream - a classic Southern basement with some country and state pride, hunting trophies and saddle on display, a space for entertainment, and lots of rustic touches. What do you think - is this your dream basement, too??

Can't wait to see these design boards come to life in this beautiful home on Norris Lake ☀️🌊

The focus of this lake house is - of course - the gorgeous view! It will have plenty of windows with a lake view in the open kitchen, dining, and living space, as well as a deck with dining, grilling, and seating space. (Outdoor living space is essential on the lake, right?!)

My design boards were inspired by nature to reflect the nearby mountains and lake, bringing that peaceful, natural feel into the home - with greens, woods, stone, and neutrals.

We hope to have it completed by the end of the year!

It's amazing what flooring, paint, and furniture can do in a tiny little condo...✨

This tiny mountain rental is a great base for mountain adventures in the Smokies - and now it feels much cleaner and cozier. Small spaces like this are overwhelming with dark walls, floors, furniture, and decor. We chose to leave the wood paneling on the walls (which I think is a fun cabin-y touch) while bringing brighter colors in with the fireplace surround, sofa, rug, paint, curtains, and more.

Rental tip: White bedding is usually the best choice! It feels cleaner and brighter, and you can add unique touches with lamps, pillows, and rugs instead.

While I usually work on residential and rental projects, it is fun to work with a small business every now and then! This was a few years ago when I helped with their office design...👁👉

Doctor offices can be a tough space to design - most of us have experienced those dark, dingy waiting rooms that just feel... gross. 😅🤪 Our goal was to make the entry and waiting space welcoming, cozy, and clean - which is not easy to balance. It's also extremely important to have a well organized office space, and we did just that with plenty of storage and clean lines. Have you ever been here?

Pillows... they really complete a space💚

How do we decide what pillows to use? Each design is different, but we often follow a similar process:

✨ Design with your colors. Pull colors from your space (rug, art, etc), and pick your favorites to use for pillows. We often stick to two colors and neutrals, but sometimes we go all neutral or several colors, if it makes sense in the space!

✨ Mix textures and patterns. This is so important! Textures and patterns do matter - you want a mix, but not too much.

✨ Mix sizes. Your largest pillow will usually fit best in the back. Square throw pillows are the main pillow you'll want to use, but it's always good to add a lumbar or even a fun shape (like a circle or a knot) on a couch.

✨ How many pillows? Well, we usually do sets of 3-5 pillows on a corner of a couch (depending on the size of the couch). If it's a small sofa or chair, 1-2 pillows should work!

What type of rec space would you want in a rental?? 👾🏓🎱⛳️🎲🎮

Having a rec space in a rental is a huge perk for renters! Game, theater, putting, or other themed rooms make a rental stand out, and they make a great space for both kids and adults.

Depending on what my clients want, sometimes we keep the game rooms simple, and other times we go all-out with a theme and cool additions (like a mini putting green - one of my favs).

There are plenty of other fun ideas like a karaoke/music space, a playground/gym space, a super-themed room (like Star Wars or Harry Potter), a spa room, and more. It's fun to get creativity flowing with these kinds of projects!
