About Jackson Square Mercantile

Our story began at The Jackson Square Mall in downtown La Grange, Illinois. The building, was originally a moving and storage business. The lobby was built to look like a bank in order to show that items would be safe at this facility. In June of 1998, the found began a multi vendor antique mall. In 2020, following covid, we began a journey to transform the busines

s to welcome more than 1000 visitors a week at our brick and mortar location and do more than $1,000,000 annually. Our building sold and eventually we had to move out. We're still looking for a new brick & mortar location and are going beginning a journey of curating an online market place for vintage lovers & curated boutiques to continue to support our small business community.

One of my favorite things about antique and vintage malls is that you never know what you may find.

I found this gem at Lagrange Park Antique Mall recently. I believe there is 1 left!

This vintage jacket is one of the many keys to a kids heart. My son is so excited to wear it for our trip to Wisconsin this Memorial Day weekend.

Share a pic of something you found for your kids at an antique or vintage mall.

We’re so excited to announce that we are the new owners of .antiquemall Our journey of owning of mall wasn’t over when the time came to leave downtown La Grange. We’ve spent over a year looking for new space throughout the Chicagoland area. Some spaces were too small, some were too big, others were going to need major repairs to fit our needs. We even considered the Lake Geneva area but it wasn’t time to leave the state. However, as the saying goes, when God closes a door, he opens a window. The owners, fellow La Grange natives, Linda and her brother John, were ready to hand the role of owning the building and operating a mall to us. The manager of LGP Antique Mall for the last 4 years, Nancy of the is retiring as wellS So when the opportunity to purchase it was brought up during a random conversation with John, we decided to take the leap of faith and welcome the opportunity. We have big shoes to fill! Nancy has become a LGP staple and an incredible supporter of non profits and local businesses in addition to managing the mall. We hope you can visit the mall before and after Nancy retires. You can catch her there until May 31st. We also welcome you to follow our entrepreneurial journey at Buckle up, it’s a wild ride!

When you’re on a road trip, do you pull off the highway for a billboard or sign if you see one? We saw a billboard today for Michigan Ave Antiques on the way to Ann Arbor, MI and it lead us to two charming malls in Parma, MI. Stop by and visit and

As a business that recently closed our brick & mortar and is actively searching for our next home, the news of the Painted Tree bankruptcy hits close to home.

I know I say this often, but our vendors are some of the hardest working—and bravest—people I know. Building something from the ground up, especially something creative and personal, takes grit most people will never fully understand. We've had vendors who have worked in the vintage space for over 20 years.

What many don’t see is what’s happening behind the scenes right now.

Finding a new space isn’t just about “opening another store.” It’s a full-time job. For over a year I've been searching for a properly maintained building, working HVAC (which is apparently not a given), and enough square footage to actually support our vendors and customers the way they deserve. A lot of landlords do not love the idea of multi vendor space. But we're powering through and vetting locations.

And then there’s Illinois.

Between rising rents, taxes, insurance, and operating costs, one wrong lease can quite literally bankrupt a family. So this process? It’s not quick. It’s careful. It has to be.

That’s why the closing of Painted Tree Boutiques feels like such a gut punch to the small business community. Behind every booth was a person who showed up, invested their savings, and built something meaningful—only to now be left figuring out what’s next, often with very little time.

Small businesses need support right now. Real support.

If you know a vendor or small business affected by this, tag them below. Let’s follow them, shop with them, and remind them their work still matters.
