✨ Project Spotlight: A Lighter, More Cohesive Look

This La Mesa home had a mix of flooring throughout, including dark wood, tile, and carpet. The homeowners were ready for a fresh update and chose one beautiful surface to create a lighter, more cohesive look from room to room.

After removing the existing flooring, our team completed the necessary floor preparation before installing Gaia Nearwood White Collection laminate in Natura Maple throughout the home.

Natura Maple’s light, natural wood tones completely transformed these spaces, while the 12mm construction gives the floor a substantial feel underfoot. It also features a high-density wood fiber core with Wetguard technology and an aluminum oxide finish for added scratch protection, making it a beautiful option designed for real life.

✨ Project Spotlight: Teenage Bedroom Refresh

Fourteen years is a pretty good run for carpet, especially when those years span toddlerhood to the teenage years! Add in spills, stains, and slime (IYKYK), and these homeowners were ready for a change.

For their teenage daughters’ bedrooms, they wanted to replace the existing carpet with a hard-surface floor that would be durable, easy to clean, and still feel warm and comfortable in the space. They chose Paradigm Conquest LVP, a beautiful natural wood look that completely refreshed both rooms while giving the family the easy-care surface they were looking for.

Once the old carpet was removed, our team prepped and leveled the subfloor before installing the new LVP. Proper floor preparation is an important part of any LVP installation and helps ensure the finished floor looks and performs its best for years to come. After the flooring was installed, we finished the rooms with new baseboards, pre-painted in the homeowner’s color of choice.

🪵 Service Spotlight: Hardwood Refinishing & Restoration

Sometimes the best new floor is actually the one that's already in your home.

Many older homes throughout La Mesa and the surrounding communities have beautiful solid hardwood floors that can be repaired, restored, and refinished rather than replaced. Our experienced in-house hardwood team specializes in bringing these floors back to life.

When repairs are needed or an existing floor needs to be extended, we can often "lace in" new hardwood, carefully weaving new boards into the existing floor for a seamless transition. Because many older floors are red or white oak, we can test the wood in-house to correctly identify the species and select the right material for the repair. Once complete, the old and new hardwood are sanded and refinished together to create a beautifully cohesive result.

✨ Did You Know? Our Name Has Changed, But Our Expertise Hasn't.

Long before we were La Mesa Flooring, many San Diegans knew us as La Mesa Carpet & Linoleum.

Our name changed to La Mesa Flooring in 2018 to better reflect the wide range of flooring we offer today, but sheet vinyl and linoleum have been part of our story for generations. That experience is still very much a part of who we are.

One product we're especially excited to offer is Forbo Marmoleum, a modern linoleum flooring made primarily from natural, renewable materials. It's durable, easy to maintain, available in a huge range of colors and designs, and a great option for homeowners looking for a more sustainable flooring choice.

Earlier this week, we shared a custom stair runner installation in San Marcos. Today, we're taking a closer look at the product featured in that project: 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐦 from the 𝟏𝟖𝟔𝟔 𝐛𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 Collection in 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡.

One of the reasons we love Stockholm is its timeless, understated design. The textured loop construction adds subtle dimension without overwhelming the space, making it easy to pair with a wide range of interiors.

Made from 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐥, Stockholm offers natural softness, durability, and resilience. Wool fibers naturally spring back from everyday foot traffic, help reduce sound, and provide a comfortable feel underfoot, making them an excellent choice for stair runners.

Hard-surface stairs, including hardwood, laminate and luxury vinyl plank (LVP), create a beautiful first impression, but they may not be the best fit for every household.

For this project, the homeowners loved the look of their existing LVP stairs but wanted to make them safer for their aging dog. A custom wool stair runner was the perfect solution, adding warmth, comfort, and extra traction while still letting the beauty of the stairs shine through.
