🎄✨ HI & WELCOME TO THE MERGS LIGHT IT UP! ✨🎄

If you’re new to our page and don’t know us yet, we are The Mergenthalers — Dan, Lisa, Mia & Hailee!

Growing up, I always remember that one house covered in Christmas lights that made you stop and say, “WOW!” My mom made it a tradition to take us every year, and even now, we still love finding those special houses and taking our girls to see them.

I’ll admit, growing up my favorite holiday was always Halloween, while Dan has ALWAYS been the Christmas one. But once Mia and Hailee came into our lives, something changed. There is just something so magical about seeing Christmas through your children’s eyes — the excitement, the wonder, the smiles — it makes you feel like a kid all over again. ❤️

We moved to Lafayette in 2017, and Dan was finally able to do what he had always wanted to do… decorate his OWN house for Christmas. 😂🎄

What started out as a few decorations has grown bigger and bigger every single year. With the help of some pretty amazing family and friends, we somehow manage to pull it all together and have everything ready to light up the night after Thanksgiving.

And here we are in 2026, still adding more, still coming up with new ideas, and still loving every second of seeing families drive by, stop, smile, take pictures, and make memories together.

For us, this has become so much more than Christmas lights. It’s about creating a little bit of Christmas magic for our girls, our community, and hopefully being that house a child remembers years from now. ❤️✨

At this point, Clark Griswold would probably tell us to calm down becasue we have started!!!

The extension cords are multiplying, the blow molds are taking over the yard, and somehow Dan keeps finding room for “just one more.” 🎅🏼🤣
But honestly… would it even be Christmas at the Mergs if you couldn’t see our house from space?! 😂

Mergs Light It Up is getting ready for another magical Christmas season! ❤️💚

One of our favorite parts of the holidays is seeing families come together, make memories, and share a little extra Christmas joy.

POV: I told my husband he is absolutely NOT allowed to buy any more blow molds… especially after I recently discovered an entire CARLOAD of them packed in so tight I couldn’t even see out the back window. 😂🎄🤦🏻‍♀️

So naturally, today he’s outside trying to intercept the FedEx guy before I can see what’s being delivered. 📦👀
Sir… we have cameras. 😂
You cannot sneak a blow mold past me by meeting FedEx halfway across the yard like this is some kind of undercover Christmas operation.
At this point, I’m convinced he thinks “If Lisa doesn’t see the box come inside, it doesn’t count.”
