Join us for lunch and dessert in our Brasserie and enjoy quiche, soup du jour, sandwiches, salads, and flavorful Lebanese options. Renaissance Market, Fine Antiques & Brasserie, is located in Lafayette, Louisiana’s Oil Center. The Oil Center is a most unique area of Lafayette and is still the heartbeat of the city, even though the oil industry was practically decimated during the oil bust of the 1
980’s. Local merchants began replacing many of the companies in the center as they moved out of the area. Renaissance Market opened its doors in May of 1992, and is owned by husband and wife team, Mary Landry Hopkins and Jim Hopkins. Known throughout South Louisiana and beyond for their fine French antiques, the owners travel to France to personally purchase each year. The shop offers many unparalleled gifts such as locally made Nouvelle candles jewelry, books, home décor, religious articles and much more. Patrons receive personal attention from Mary, helping with decorating ideas, putting her designing degree to use. She also ventures out of the store to homes of clients to assist in home decorating, delivering and placing newly purchased antiqueB_smalls. In May of 2008, Mary and Jim opened the Brasserie Bistro adjacent to the Renaissance Market and is slowly becoming one of the most sought after establishments in the region. The menu changes each day with varied items, trying to preserve the freshness and availability of the produce. Popular items include chicken, turkey or tuna salad served on a bed of lettuce with freshly sliced avocado atop, assorted paninis made with choice cold cuts and cheeses, unsurpassed Lebanese dishes made with recipes handed down from Mary’s mother, and select salads such as fall fig salads and summer watermelon and red onion with French flair homemade dressings. Currently the Brasserie is only open for lunch but plans are to open once a month in the evening to spotlight local talent on the unique stage and to serve wine, cheeses and other assorted appetizer dishes.
