Layers of textures, including a wood José Zanine Caldas coffee table, one-of-a-kind ceramics, and a Mattia Bonetti side table next to a 1950s Rita Valla lounge chair upholstered in shearling, set the tone for this California beach house. Above the fireplace hangs a David Hockney collage, while a mixed-metal Bertoia sound sculpture stands beside it.⁠

Behind pocket doors, a moody den drenched in deep olive holds a collection of artifacts, art, and antique furnishings. Softly lit by a vintage Tobia Scarpa “Celestia” ceiling fixture, the built-in cabinet showcases an array of ancient pottery, ceramics, and sculptures. Above an antique rug and BDDW Abel club chair hangs an Otis Jones painting, while a pair of Quentin James McCaffrey graphite drawings hang on the opposite side of the doorway.⁠

Repurposing a vintage vanity or writing desk infuses each space with heritage and refined character. In the primary suite of our East Bluff project, a desk recovered from an old church becomes a dressing table, paired with a rattan stool and an Isabelle Sicart lamp. ⁠

A vintage Adnet lamp rests atop a petite Paolo Buffa vanity repurposed as a writing desk, offering a peaceful spot to take in morning views of Emerald Bay.⁠

Every project begins with a deep respect for its architectural context. From restoring a 1930s beach hideaway to reimagining a mid-century home, we let each structure’s unique character inform and inspire the design narrative.⁠

For our Newport Beach project, we started by transforming the interior architecture, vaulting the living room’s previously flat ceiling and reconfiguring the floor plan for better flow. A custom built-in banquette in the family room increased seating and fostered intimacy while preserving separation from the lively kitchen. Throughout, Pesco Italian marble countertops and aged limestone floors pair with rich walnut paneling. Cedar-clad ceilings and abundant natural light from skylights and windows bathe the interiors, creating a space that feels inviting, refined, and modern.⁠
