Hello All,
Hope and Pray everyone staying "safe" and healthy...thought I would share some Feng Shui tips for Health, since at this point, we all need any help we can get to remain Virus-free!

If you follow me or know a bit about Feng Shui, you may know about the Bagua Map, which shows how Energy flows in spaces- your home, work space, lot, and individual rooms. Now is the time to "enhance" your Health gua (sector) to help keep that area energetically flowing with Wellness...the Element for the Health Gua is WOOD.(.visit https://www.serenitybydesigninteriors.com/about-feng-shui to see where your Health Gua is, and more about the 5 Elements)

To bring in the Wood Element, use plants, green colors, images/artwork of flowers, plants, fields, forests, as well as anything made of wood or plant-based materials (grass- cloth, bamboo sticks,rope/macrame hangers, carved wood decor/objects)- use your creativity and utilize what you have at home right now! For example, my guest bath is in my Health sector, so I just moved a houseplant from my living room into the bathroom, and I also just added a decorative carved wood wall hanging in there, items I already have in my home, but can move around according to my Energetic needs!

In addition, go outside and clip some of those spring flowers which are starting to bloom, and make a fresh floral arrangement for your family to enjoy while staying inside! Nature is helping us cope by gifting us with gorgeous spring colors and blooms!!

I will be posting more Feng Shui Tips to help us all try to maintain as much Balance in our Lives and Homes as we can during this Time...Be Safe, and Spread your own version of "Help" in any way you can to help others!! xoxo💕🥰

03/21/2020

Hello all- wow, its been awhile, again! But I decided to post because I want to offer some kind of "light" in the darkness we are all experiencing...with the "luxury" of Time right now, I know some of us may be working on those home projects, de-cluttering, organizing, and trying to create The Sanctuary of Home that we all need right now- so I would love to offer my Feng Shui expertise to answer any questions you may have about how to "Shift and Lift" the energy in your home for the better!!
Please feel free to either ask questions here or email me at [email protected], and I will help you create a more uplifting, inspired, calming (or energized) space for you to call your Home Sanctuary, during this time when that is precisely what we all need!! Stay safe, healthy, and Please do what we all need to do- Protect others from getting this virus by staying home/practicing social distancing when out in the world! Thank you and love to all!

Feng Shui Tip: Placement of Mirrors
Mirror, Mirror On the (Correct) Wall!! I get asked about the correct placement of mirrors all the time in my practice, so wanted to share a few Tips on how mirrors affect our spaces, and us!

Mirrors are such an interesting subject in Feng Shui, as they are energetically powerful, and can have a tangible as well as visual impact in our spaces. Mirrors are considered the Water Element in Feng Shui, as they reflect light and are "clear" like water. A mirror duplicates whatever it "sees"- whether that is us, or our surroundings...and this can have a positive or negative energetic effect on how we feel and respond in a space with mirrors.

Here is THE key concept to remember when adding mirrors to your space: Be very careful of what is being reflected in a mirror, as this view is essentially doubled when seen in a mirror.
~Avoid placing mirrors where dark hallways, bathrooms, blank walls, un-inspiring art (an upcoming Feng Shui Tip!),a desk with a stack of work/paper clutter, or unattractive outdoor spaces will be the reflective "view"- as a mirror will visually and energetically multiply these "dark" images.
~Also avoid placing a mirror directly across from the front door in an entry way, as this serves to direct positive energy right back out the door!
~If you have trouble sleeping, check to see if you have a large mirror (closet doors, above a dresser?) in your bedroom which you can see from your bed- mirrors reflect light and energy all the time, night and day, and some people are sensitive to this energy at night.

Instead, place mirrors where they will reflect "high vibration" Energies- your favorite piece of art, a beautiful dining room table, a lively family room, or a beautiful view of nature in your backyard. Mirrors are a great way to add the Water Element in your space, but be mindful of just where you place them! Check your "view in your mirrors" now, and multiply the Good Chi in your space with correct placement of this powerful decorative element!

Hello, my Feng Shui Friends!
It has been awhile, to say the least...I stepped away for a bit, but I am BACK!! And ready to share, educate, and inspire you with evidence-based, human-centered, wellness-oriented design and Feng Shui concepts which you can use to create balanced, "healthy", and emotionally refreshing spaces in your home and work environments..
Watch your feed for upcoming tips, ideas, blogs, and perhaps some videos :)! I will also be providing real estate staging tips to help move properties quickly, as this is my forte, and why I have been re-miss in posting to my FB page and website- so please forward on to any agents who might benefit!

I will leave you today with this thought, and actual fact:
Nature is Perfect. Step outside and Notice-the colors, the flow of the Seasons, the birds that just know when to migrate, the tides that just ebb and flow, the Moon and its phases, the sunrise and sunset each and every day. Notice how you feel outdoors in Nature- refreshed, grateful, in Awe of how It just all "works"...This feeling is due to the fact that all of our Chakras become balanced when we are in Nature.

Hence, one of the overarching goals in Feng Shui design is to Bring the Balance of Nature into our living spaces. Stay Tuned on How to Do exactly this!

Just in Time! Another Feng Shui Holiday Tip PLUS more, to help you Relax and Refresh in the upcoming weeks!

Did you know that, according to Freudian Theory- the quickest way to trigger a positive emotional response is with SCENT?

In Feng Shui, scent evokes memories, associations, emotions just like our physical possessions do...and during the holidays, so many aromas fill the air.... Christmas treats baking in the oven, the fresh smell of pine, the comforting smell of a wood-burning fire, cinnamon and cloves, the aroma of hot chocolate or a hot toddy:)...all of these render some type of emotional and physiological response within us.

What are your favorite Scents of The Season, which help you relax, and bring you fond memories and positive vibes?

An easy way to bring energetically positive aromas into your space is with (therapeutic grade/high quality) Essential Oils, which I call Nature in a Bottle!

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds from plants- leaves, seeds, herbs, flowers, bark, roots- all bottled up for us to enjoy as scents and healing tonics. Essential oils are basically the chi/life force energy of the plant it is extracted from- so they are PURE ENERGY!

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years in many cultures for their health-related powers, as well as for their aromas. ..in Feng Shui, we are trying to HEAL, BALANCE ourselves and our environments, so Essential Oils go hand-in-hand with Feng Shui due to their HEALING properties and powers.

Here are some interesting Energetic Qualities of specific Essential Oils which lend themselves to the Holiday Season:
• Peppermint- works to boost energy levels, and proven to improve performance and focus when doing tasks and work, as well as promoting feelings of clear airways and easier breathing, acts to detoxify the air.
• Wild Orange/Tangerine-these citrus oils have a soothing and relaxing aroma which is also uplifting to the spirit (try combining these with Peppermint for a brilliant blend!)
• Lavender- known as an "Adaptogen", lavender will create balance as needed- it will either calm or activate energy as needed, and is known for its anti-anxiety and purifying properties.
• Frankincense- as The Wise Men knew, this most precious oil has been used for centuries due to it's many healing powers, especially the ability to promote feelings of balance, grounding, relaxation, and comfort.
*Tip: you don't need a store-bought diffuser to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy with essential oils! Simply apply a few drops of oil to porous materials around your home or office: raw or unfinished wood, un-glazed ceramics, leather...or put a few drops on your heating/air filter, to diffuse scent throughout your home!

Hello Feng Shui Friends!
So hard to Believe it is December already, once again!
I have been working on some ideas, Feng Shui tips, and a VERY SPECIAL HOLIDAY GIFT OFFER for you, so read on!

Wouldn't you Love a Less Hectic Holiday Season This Year?
One Filled With More Joy, Peace, Calm, & Harmony?

"Of Course I would- but How?" I hear you reply...
How can I be calm and peaceful during the
most "frazzling" time of the year?

Here are a few top Feng Shui-related Tips to help you transform this Holiday Season from Hectic to Harmonious!

Let's start with - Breathing! Deep breathing is an immediate stress reliever, and many of us are so busy in our daily activities at this time of year, we forget to really breathe! When you feel a bit overwhelmed with holiday to do's, take a few minutes to focus on your breath- really be "present", and notice how you feel... and be grateful for your heart and lungs which work so hard every day to keep you healthy and living in this world.

Next, take time to really think about the memories, meaning and "symbolism" for many of the holiday traditions we follow...if you decorate a tree, slow down and enjoy placing each ornament, and try to remember it's history. (In Feng Shui, all of our possessions, including holiday decor and ornaments, have a story to tell...and if any of your belongings has a negative, sad, or "uncomfortable"story in your mind, it is important to release that item) Hopefully you will have happy memories "stored" in your holiday decor- otherwise, take action!

This year, try to look at things around you differently to relax your spirit... In Feng Shui, positive energy is linked to symbolism...See Angel figurines and ornaments as your Guardians, protecting you and your family. Pine trees represent growth and long life in Feng Shui, and gold and metallic ornaments are symbolic of richness and prosperity.

And although Red is a prominent holiday color, avoid too much Red in your decor, as it is the Feng Shui Fire Element, and an over-abundance of Red/Fire causes "fiery" tempers and emotions, and can result in arguments and agitation. Focus on using calming colors such as greens and blues, with "pops" of red inserted.

Try to follow the Less is More philosophy when enhancing your home with holiday decorations- in Feng Shui, an overly decorated home at the holidays translates into "holiday Clutter", which has the same effect on us as regular clutter- it stagnates energy, and causes us to feel chaotic and frazzled.

Hopefully these tips will help you relax and enjoy the month ahead!

FENG SHUI TIP: COLOR
Color is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to shift energy- in your home, or anywhere you happen to be! You can use color to change the energy in your home, your clothing, on the the train, in your car, or anywhere else that you you happen to be!! Meditating on the quality of a particular color is even something many people can do with their eyes closed. Or you can simply seek it out in the environment around you, and then allow the essence of the color to affect your own energy field.

Here are some of the traditional Feng Shui associations with different colors:

RED: Vigor and vitality, raw physical energy, passion, loyalty, virility, a strong sense of tribal identity.

ORANGE: Attunement to the senses and the physical body, happiness, optimism, receptivity, flow, social confidence.

YELLOW: Mental acuity, intellectual discourse, communication, curiosity, optimism, self-esteem

GREEN: Health and balance, detoxification, rejuvenation, compassion, kindness, understanding

BLUE: Intuition, wisdom, ability to be quiet and still, surrender of personal willfulness, fresh insight

PURPLE: Transcendence of the mundane, spiritual and material abundance, leadership ability

METALLICS: physical beauty, material wealth, inner radiance

What is your favorite color?
Have Fun with Color and Shift the Energy in your Environment~and your Life!

“How (and Why) to Incorporate Mindful Design into Our Environment”
A blog/ article by

Mindfulness…the term is popping up everywhere lately…what does it really mean, and how/why should we incorporate Mindfulness into our Environments?

Mindfulness is “awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally,” says Jon Kabat-Zinn, the leading expert on the concept. Mindfulness is also be defined as “the quality or state of being conscious or aware ; maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and surrounding environment” [http://greatergood.berkeley.edu/topic/mindfulness/definition]

Clinical research has shown that the practice of Mindfulness is strongly related to well-being, perceived health, and ultimately, Happiness. Mindfulness practices provide a holistic approach to wellness, focusing on being aware of mind, body, and soul… being aware of our breathing, our senses, what we are seeing, hearing, smelling, and feeling in a given moment, tuning in to our body’s physical, emotional, and spiritual sensations, without judgement, but with simple Acceptance…When we become aware and “conscious” of how we are feeling and what we are experiencing, we can see and identify our emotional “triggers” and habitual reactions to situations, and we can learn to respond differently and more “mindfully.” The goal of Mindfulness practices are to help us reduce stress, become healthier, have more Life balance and become Happier- living our lives in the present moment, instead of allowing past thoughts and experiences to dictate how we respond and live in the Now.

The bottom line is that we are all seeking ways to create Optimum Happiness in all areas of our lives, right?! We want to be “Holistically Happy”- in body, mind, and spirit! We want less stress, more fun, more Balance in our daily lives…We can do this by creating Time daily for Mindful practices such as meditation… and by making sure the Environments and Spaces around us are balanced, supportive, and empowering…The simplest and most powerful way to do this is with Feng Shui, or Mindful Design!

Feng Shui is the art of Conscious, Aware, and Intentional Design of our Surroundings, our Environment- it is the study of how our external spaces affect us internally, and vice versa. Feng Shui holds that the spaces where we spend our time- work, home, play, and outdoors- have the ability to affect us on a variety of levels: physically, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically.

The Goal of Feng Shui is for our spaces to be “consciously” balanced so that there is only a positive effect on us, on all levels…Feng Shui brings MINDFULNESS into design.

When we become aware of how “things” in our environment affect us personally- either negatively or positively- we can then work to eliminate or enhance our spaces accordingly, with the goal of creating Spaces which only emit positive, balanced, supportive, and healthy energetic vibes.

When the Spaces where we spend our time are Balanced, we become more balanced as a result…when Energies flow with balance and ease in our environment, this allows us to literally Relax and Allow- for Life to flow more easily, with less effort and resistance…

Feng Shui allows us to Connect to our spaces, and to learn and be aware and mindful of how these spaces affect our inner feelings and emotions.

Feng Shui seeks to remove Energetic Blocks in our lives- both physical and emotional blocks- so that we can be in Alignment with what we truly want in our lives…so that we can be in Balance, in Optimum Health, and again, bottom line- HAPPIER! Less stress, less worry! Being MINDFUL brings us HAPPINESS!!

When we Consciously Create our Environments with Balance, individuality, and Awareness of what Energies we bring in, - we are practicing MINDFUL DESIGN, or Feng Shui!!

Start practicing Mindful Design right now! Simply look around your home, noticing all your possessions…noticing your emotional response to your “things”- artwork, books, photos, furniture, décor. Do you feel love, joy, positive vibes from what surrounds you? Do you feel “connected” emotionally and spiritually to your belongings? Really notice how things around you make you feel…without judgement, without thinking too much…if you find items that have negative associations or memories for you, remove them from your space. Even if you remove one single thing, you will positively shift the energies in your environment! Have fun with this process, and create your own Conscious, Mindful Environment full of positivity and Happiness!
