The lights arrived, we wrapped the tree, and now the whole room has that soft twinkle I was hoping for. The disco ball is doing its job, the golden retriever approves, and I’m calling it done. Wishing you a calm, light-filled season from my home to yours! 🎄✨

Confession: my local shop was out, so I caved and ordered more of those sparkly, zero-heat LED lights.

The tree will have to wait till tomorrow, but tonight it’s disco ball and one very cute golden retriever supervising. Stay tuned! ✨

Making a bed is one of my happy places. Years ago I made display beds at The Bon Marché and the love never left. This little room lives inside my Hygge Sabi shop, bright and white, so for fall-winter I warmed it up with layers instead of paint: simple sheets, something vintage, and plenty of texture. I skip matching sets, leaning into pattern on pattern and colors so it feels collected, not staged.

A few favorite moves: cover the box spring with a spare fitted sheet. Lay the top sheet pattern side down so the fold shows the pretty side. Use a plain duvet for loft, then layer a colorful blanket on top. Lightly mist or steam to relax wrinkles. Let edges peek out in a quiet stack and if a pillowcase is too long, just tuck the extra into a neat sleeve.

As always, perfect is not the goal - welcoming is. Let yourself play and follow what makes you smile.

I had the exquisite experience of walking through the home, gallery, and studio of Lake Oswego artist Yu Huan Wang ().

This happened thanks to the passionate drive of the innovative and completely delightful Liz Contag of who remembered I had clients who love this style and arranged an intimate tour. What an honor and visual delight.

His work is not to be believed. It truly needs to be seen in person. The meticulous detail pulls you close, and the surface shifts as you move through the room and the light changes. Stunning. Simply stunning. It takes him months to complete a single painting, and he loves every second of it.

I encourage you to contact to arrange a visit. You may walk away with a piece you cannot take your eyes off.

Before and after in Dunthorpe, where the brief was simple: natural warmth and texture ✨

We kept the range and hood right where they belonged, then reimagined everything around them. A stacked stone wall, a quiet mix of walnut and painted cabinetry, and lighter surfaces to pull in the day. The clients love to read the paper in the kitchen, so we wove in a real desk and a small table without crowding the room.

No walls moved. Just thoughtful edits, better light, and materials that feel calm and human. Modern, approachable, and warm, exactly what they were craving.

When working with , we begin with the essentials: how you live, what the room needs to hold, and what makes you happy. Their team brings a thoughtful selection to your home so you can watch scale, light, and texture settle into the space. Let them rest overnight. Choose the one that makes the room exhale.

Ethically sourced, beautifully made, and offered across a wide range. And right now is a lovely moment to look: their year end sale includes an extra 30% off already reduced pieces.

If you are in Portland, stop by the Nob Hill showroom on NW Lovejoy, or message me and I will connect you.

I knew Christiane and her team created custom pieces, but seeing this one in person genuinely blew me away. What began as a small fragment that felt like Italian marbled paper became a hand-knotted composition, chosen from thousands of color poms and mapped line by line in partnership with their makers in Nepal. It is the kind of piece you build a room around.

In their NW Portland store, the pace is unhurried. You look, you touch, you ask questions, and decades of knowing fill in the gaps until the right piece reveals itself. If you are redecorating or simply looking for a unique rug, visit on NW Lovejoy and explore their store.

I stopped by because I’ve been wanting to share why I send so many folks her way and why this kind of face-to-face, feel-the-fabric experience matters. We talked about stepping outside the algorithm, listening to how people live, and letting expertise guide the options. Christiane brings several rugs to your home so you can see scale, light, and texture in the room itself, and she’ll gently expand your ideas with pieces you might not have considered. The result isn’t just a purchase - it’s a story you’ll live with for years.

If you’re craving something real and lasting, make a day of it in Nob Hill and visit . She designs and sources rugs with deep craft and a thoughtful range of price points - heirlooms meant to be used.

Next in this series, we take a walk through her studio, hear a few favorite stories, and talk about how and where these rugs are made.

There’s something about wandering through quirky, curated spaces in tiny, sleepy towns. Where time slows. Where things feel chosen, not just stocked.

Throwing it back to a quiet December morning in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. We had the town almost to ourselves… and I didn’t realize how much I needed the pause until I was in the middle of it. Mid-week. No crowds. Just time to breathe a little deeper. To touch everything. To talk with kind strangers. To take in every layer of texture, color, and care.

Art on the walls. Handwritten signs. Stories tucked into corners. This place held everything I love and reminded me that inspiration doesn’t always come from the work… sometimes, it’s from the way people live. If you ever get the chance, go. Especially if you love wandering with no agenda but curiosity. 💛

Design isn’t about buying everything at once. It’s about trust, patience, and the slow layering of pieces that carry history and meaning. That’s why our process begins with people, not floor plans. We sit down, share stories, and listen because the best spaces are built from alignment, not just aesthetics.

From there, we source thoughtfully, often leaning into vintage and handcrafted pieces that bring soul to a home. Mixed with the right balance of new and bespoke, they create spaces that feel collected, personal, and timeless. The magic isn’t in matching. It’s in the mix and in the relationship we build along the way.

Working with local artisans is literally the best. This mirror was made by Alpha StoneWorks and I just cannot get enough of it. I also love a good juxtaposition so they hung it in my humble shop because I wanted the luxury of the marble to rest on the simple texture of the bead board. These things make me happy. Thank you, Alpha! You are AMAZING!

Glimpses of Venice Beach being its cute self 🌿 A quick trip, but such a meaningful one. We stayed at the beautiful Gjelina House, met with the architectural team, and walked through new spaces that will soon become something really special.

There’s a creative spark that lives in this little corner of California, and it’s already shaping what’s next. More to come as this project unfolds, but for now, a few sweet moments from Venice.
