This bridge lamp is a spectacular sight! From the clawfoot base is a platform that holds four pillars, where there are many simple and varied patterns, along with two amber glass teardrop crystals. These pillars support a stunning vase shape with two small arms and a garland of flowers. This vase supports the lamp body, which displays an elegant floral vine that wraps the body in a spiral.. Above the body are a few more floral motifs that sit under the bridge. The back of the bridge splits into a small, leafy arm that suspends another amber glass crystal. Above that is a leafy spiral with one large flower in the middle. The bridge itself is smoothly curved, with a vine of leaves wrapping around it. The shadeholder and socket has an extremely detailed sheath. The shade speaks for itself, with a ribbed design that flows into a grreen twisted ring, followed by a ring of red roses, and completed with another green ring. The green in the shade matches the green flecks in the artfully painted lamp’s body and base! This lamp has been fully restored and rewired to bring a beautiful light source to someone’s home!

This early 1920’s bed frame was just asking to be re-purposed, so it could be loved by future generations! This gorgeous brass bed frame was just the right piece to make a one-of-a-kind chandelier!
This bed frame could no longer be used to support a mattress and box spring. That’s why we decided it needed a new life and purpose. We found the antique Victorian swan faucet, faucet handles, and the faucets handle caps that inspired him to start the transformation!
First he cut the bottom of the frame off, and started fitting the pieces together. This was not an easy task, having to construct parts from scratch. He also needed to preserve the naturally-aged patina.
The chains are hooked onto the faucet handles. We used the swan faucet as a finial, adding the perfect touch to complete the piece! The intricate detail on the swan is exquisite.

Our Angel Flying with Ginkgo Biloba Tree Branch

This masterpiece of historical art comes from the Charles Gerard Conn Mansion on Strong Avenue in Elkhart Ind.
Elkhart used to be known as the “Band Instrument Capital of the World.” This was because of a huge effort made by Charles Gerard Conn, born in the state of New York in the year 1844. His parents, Charles J and Sarah Benjamin Conn, moved to Three Rivers, Michigan in 1850 and then to Elkhart, Indiana in 1851. Gerard, as he liked to be called, at age 17, joined the Union Army to fight in the Civil War. Once there, he advanced from the rank of private to captain and assisted in driving Morgan’s Raiders out of Indiana. He was captured by the Confederate Army and tried to escape three times, but was unsuccessful.

Pictured here is a very rare and oversized 9 light hanging electrolier chandelier Circa 1895.
A full figured angel grasps a Ginkgo Biloba Tree branch. The entire fixture is in full relief and is quite extraordinary. Unfortunately, the maker’s mark is indeterminate.
Each light depicts a thistle like blossom in a whimsical botanical fashion.
It most likely presented and showcased proudly the advancement of electricity and newly available light bulb invention. With so many lights this was intended to boast this advancement. It possesses ear-marks of pieces by Emille Robert. This piece is of the highest craftsmanship and is rich in details.
Composition: brass and spelter.
Dimensions are: 40" long and 20" in width and 24" in height this height can be extended to 6’. The approximate weight is 45 lbs.
It has been completely restored by Vintage Lighting ink with all new wiring.

Provenance: it was removed from the Charles Conn mansion in Elkhart Indiana.

Our second client from New York, Christiane, came to the shop and bought a couple sconces when she spotted the chandelier in extremely rough condition. Somebody had painted it black and many of the crystals and glass flowers were missing. It was dirty and I asked, “You want that?” and she said she was sure she wanted it. She had a gift to look at a diamond in the rough such as it was and see the beauty in its potential. So she left for New York and we went to work on restoring it. It took quite a long time before we finished. We had to take it all apart and buff out every piece of brass. Find the right size crystals and glass flowers to replace the ones that were missing . This process took us about three months in between other clients to get this chandelier finished. In the middle of this process, we started to realize that this chandelier was gonna be special by the time we finished it. We loved watching its restoration as we did it. It’s one of the best chandeliers ever to leave our shop. It was such a feminine and garaceful chandelier that Cassidy and I both fell in love with it. Once it was done, we had to ship it back and we were very concerned about the shipping because we didn’t want it to get damaged, so finally the client and her brother decided to come and pick it up from New York City. When we revealed our work to her, she was very pleased.
Check out the intricate detail of this beautiful brass chandelier. After the client got the chandelier home, it took her some time before she was able to find somebody to put it up but now it’s up and it fits so well with her decor.

We had a client bring in this beautiful modern style table lamp and fell in love with it instantly! The brass center was in perfect condition, but the wiring proved to be a challenge! Someone had tried to rewire it at home and they were unsuccessful. We had to take it apart, thread the wire through, and then make sure lol the inner fittings were fully tightened. Once we got the wire through, wiring up the sockets was a cinch!
We’d love the chance to work on your special lamps and heirlooms! Call us at 219-369-3241 to schedule an appointment!

Original Tiffany Lily Pond Table Lamp; From Disaster to Triumph!

I have over 30 years of experience working in vintage lighting and restoration, operating an antique metal art fabricating shop, and have four patents under my belt. And yet, this Louis Comfort Tiffany Studios lamp might have been one of the toughest projects we have ever worked on.

The previous owner received this Tiffany lamp from her mother, who had inherited it from her great aunt. The great aunt had purchased the lamp brand new in 1905! Frustrated that the lamp never worked, the previous owner was considering donating it to Goodwill. However, she decided to offer it to our current clients. Our clients brought the lamp to us for rewiring. It was a true challenge and it required all the skills I’ve acquired over these 30 years to ensure a successful repair. For a while I was uncertain if I could revive the Tiffany to its original glory.

Upon disassembling it, we discovered four bridges still containing the original wire. However, the wire was asbestos-soaked in tar, making removal a daunting task. To address this challenge, we designed and constructed a specialized tool to extract the asbestos wire. This tool proved effective on three of the four bridges, but unfortunately, the wire broke inside the last bridge. I was immediately very upset. The possibility that I might be unable to bring the light to all of the shades weighed so heavily on me. For three weeks, I prayed and asked the Lord to help me.

Since I started my journey with the Lord at 29 years old, my most consistent job has been solving problems and navigating the impossible. I wrestled with this belief that I have had for the last 20 years, that all negative things that happen to me, happen for my ultimate good. So I sat and pondered what God was wanting me to learn from this. Then, an inspiration struck.

I ventured into my workshop to see if I had the materials to recreate a perfect replacement for the original pipe. I checked if I had any brass pipe with the exact inner and outer diameter required. As I walked over to the corner of my shop, I pulled out a stick of 5/16 brass pipe, and to my astonishment, it matched the original pipe on the Tiffany. Despite the rarity and age of the original pipe, I held a brass pipe with the exact dimensions that I was looking for. What are the odds of that?!

I thought it would take so much effort and time to make the bends in the pipe to duplicate the original. I began bending it and it came out almost perfect on the first try, just like magic! It took me about an hour to mold it into the perfect shape.

However, the question lingered: could this possibly work? How would we achieve the perfect patina? After another three weeks of experimentation we finally succeeded. We meticulously stripped and refinished the pipe four times before we were able to ensure the authenticity of the patina. Finally, we held an exact replica, one that I feel was indistinguishable from the original pipes of the lamp. Additionally, we fabricated necessary parts to install the new sockets. Finally, we wired all ten bridges successfully.

when we presented the project to our client, they were overwhelmingly supportive and encouraging. They said two things: they would have never noticed the new bridge if we hadn’t told them about it, and that the Antique Roadshow wouldn’t be able to detect the piece we had replaced. Succeeding in the restoration of this esteemed piece despite the adversity we faced with it, emboldened me with the knowledge that even the hardest of challenges can work out for the best and teach us something new.
