The biggest time consumption in my work is browsing the internet for appropriate materials. I have to find kimonos/obis that are stunning, unique, and reasonably priced so I can make affordable (and profitable) merchandise. Unfortunately there are a lot of sellers who charge insane prices for items that they acquired at 1/10th of the actual cost; which is why this is something I would never buy (no matter how cute / unique it may be). 🤣

Trying to find obi fabric for wall hangings that are different from my usual offerings... Will be listing this pagoda in sunset against a lake once the fuchin I ordered arrives from Japan. Will also be making up this fabric into pillow covers.

I'm so impressed with the skills these women in Japan have who make these ichimatsu doll dresses! This one includes a double collar, and insert in the sleeves (to represent a juban... undergarment without having to actually use one). As someone who works with kimono silk I know it must take forever to find a pattern this small that works for a doll's dress (and my doll is a size 10/12 not the larger 15 or 18). I can't wait to use this dress in the fall. The brown obi I made has a subtle gold chrysanthemum pattern woven into the tsumugi fabric.

I love how this obi came out for my doll. The colours of the woven design in the fabric work perfectly with this kimono...

In between sewing up eyeglass cases for out-of-stock merchandise, I will be sewing up obis for my ichimatsu doll that I recently purchased multiple kimonos for (one for each season). I purchased antique fabric since I'm partial to older style kimono fabrics, especially shibori... Can't wait to make them up and get them paired with their respective kimonos.
