The Olympics hit different when you’ve lived the dream that didn’t quite happen as a competitive figure skater..
5am practices. Endless falls. Getting back up every single time. dedication, and dreams.
I look at these skaters - especially the ones who don’t medal - and I see myself. The competitor who poured everything into something and didn’t get the recognition.
It took me years to understand: The media creates this narrative that you need to be publicly celebrated to be worthy. That, without the podium, the publication, the applause, you somehow fall short.
But that’s not the truth.
The real lesson? Our worth is never conditional . It never was. So, I'm applauding everyone that made it on the ice and performed their best. What winners...all of them!
