If you saw my latest reel, you heard the story of how my little obsession with the “villains” of nature began with hornets. I’ve done so much research on them, which made me have some serious questions. Why do we make them villains yet celebrate bees? We even put bees on towels, cards, bedding, and build entire gardens for them. Once I learned of the queen hornet’s tenacity, I fell in love. No, I don’t want them living on my porch, but I do believe they are special. The first picture is my inspiration photo of a hornet nest. The second and third pics are where I’m headed with that inspiration. Torn paper, wood powder mixed with paint, watching ink move around with water and find its place have made this such a fun process. Did you know the colors of the nest are a result of the wood she goes and gets to create the nest?

It’s pumpkin season!!! #22/100 is an adorable little shelf sitter that celebrates the walks through pumpkin patches searching for the perfect one. This one doesn’t even rot lol.

Mini #21/100…Here we go on the way to the next sale release at #40. She’s sassy, a little sunburnt and ready for more summer fun, certainly not the boredom of sitting in her classroom seat. Anyone got a little girl like that lol?

Something new is happening in the studio….it’s a little weird lol. Hornets nests, wood powder, ink, oil paint, Japanese paper, and, of course, some gold. I’ve become fascinated by the beauty and complexity of things in nature most of us think of as villains. So, I’ve been following that curiosity and seeing where it takes me. “Rethinking Nature’s Villains” has officially begun. This one is going to get interesting.
