NEW INTRO POST : New to the Merc? Welcome! I'm Kirsten and this is my husband Andres, hosts here at The City Mercantile.

In 2014 we got invited by a promoter to do our very first show. We were broke newlyweds dabbling in the painted furniture craze that marked the beginning of farmhouse decor's popularity. We took 48 pieces of furniture to the show...and brought back 11.

And that was it. The start of the rest of our lives. We were in love with all of it. The community of small businesses, the high of pulling off a million little details, the creative process of styling and displaying items and bringing joy to so many guests in such a short time.

We never quit. We did more than 100 shows in more than 15 states over the next couple of years, finally settling in Ohio where we have been hosting markets since 2017. We still love it.

Our goal is for our markets to bring something special to the community.

For guests that means we aim create a memorable weekend you can spend with family and friends and walk away with items you are thrilled to make part of your home. For vendors, that means providing you tools, opportunities and customers to grow your business. In 2026, it looks like new market locations and greater reach for our in-house magazine MER-CAN-TILE.

I'm over here working on the fall issue of MERCANTILE magazine and the features we have lined up for this time are perfect!

Our in-house magazine promotes our hard working vendors, local sponsors and has seasonal inspo to get your home, porch and closet ready for the next season.

As I roll through our Autumn and Christmas applications this week, there's a few things Im always on the lookout for!

1) Vendors who take the time to make their booths feel like small shop within the market. I'm looking for vendors whose booths have unique personality beyond a pop-up table with stuff laid out on it.

2) We are a seasonal shopping event that focuses on vintage and handmade home decor. Their items are original, handmade, hand-picked and beautifully styled.

3) Our guests come to get in the mood for the next season. I'm looking for vendors bring fresh seasonal items every time and keep our guests coming back for more!

4)When our shoppers are pleased, I'm pleased! Vendors who show they care about our guests experience will be invited back and that means making their booth super friendly, branded and professional!

Two years of The City Mercantile 🥲

This past weekend marked two years since our opening day! We literally cannot believe what a beautiful community has come together in that short time. It is an absolute dream to be able to do what we love with our friends and family alongside us.

We didn't know on this day whether we would make it two years. We didn't know if that was our "forever" venue. We didn't know which vendors were in it for the long haul. We didn't know whether we could make it fly.

But it did.

Andres and I are so glad that we took this leap of faith. This market has given us so many great forever memories and fantastic weekends already. This is just the beginning!

We have found the most incredible people along the way... from super supportive vendor family, to family members that travel cross-country EVERY single market to help out, to media partners who go the extra mile, to every single guest that tells us they can't wait until next time. You guys are what make this market so special!

Here's to the next two years.... or twenty. We are committed to lifting up small businesses and providing our communities with memorable events and we can't wait to see what is next! 🙌🙌
