My first completed bit of Christmas decorating. I’m usually a decorated by Thanksgiving girl but this year I’ve had a few hurdles and am woefully behind. I have a strong Christmas spirit and hope to be finished by this weekend. It’s my favorite time of year and my favorite time to display my Christmas treasures. Ho ho ho 🎄

We opened our Etsy shop April 2018 when I was 48 years old. After close to 7 years of all day, every day, nonstop work, I am now 1000 years old. My biggest hobby has become cancelling plans and pretty much missing everything. Mind you I’m not complaining. At all. Every bit of the work has been my choice and my privilege to do so. One of the biggest accomplishments of my life and an enormous source of pride is my shop. I offer these reasons as an explanation for why I’m closing my shop… I prefer to close on a high note and for it to be my decision. Etsy has changed so much in the years I’ve been open and not in a good way. It’s become an AI saturated, vinyl personalization, not handmade marketplace, not unlike Temu, Amazon, etc. That’s no bueno for me. I will continue my work but am undecided exactly where I will land. I’m going to take some time with my husband, my sons, my dogs and cats for a while then figure out what’s next. To say I appreciate all of you is not a big enough word. I have connected with sooooo many wonderful people from around the world. Many of you are our friends and a part of the Johnsons lives (Yvonne). You guys mean the world to me ❤️ So this is a happy ending and certainly not a good bye. It’s a see ya’ real soon… I found out through instagram we are annoying Disney adults 😁 Much much love and many thanks ❤️ Emily and Chris

Our sweet Truman had a birthday this week and is now 7ish years old. We adopted Truman from a wonderful rescue when he was around 10 weeks old. The rescue said he was a border collie mix but we knew pretty quickly that was probably not correct… He became our own Clifford the big red dog ❤️ Before he was a year old he was well over 100 lbs and close to six feet tall standing on his hind legs 😳 A few years ago we did the doggie dna and found out he is a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees. That explains a few things 🤭 Regardless of his size, his nature has always been sweet, nurturing and tolerant. He cries when he hears me blow drying my hair because he knows that means I’m leaving… He’s a big baby, a gentle giant and a mamas boy. And most importantly he is a constant reminder of how wonderful rescue dogs are. All of our dogs and cats are either rescues or rehomed. Except for my pug. Which my pug friends understand 😉 It truly has been a privilege to have Truman as part of our little family ❤️
