September in Texas is when the porch quietly becomes the best room in the house. We ran the ceiling in stained wood and left the trusses showing, set a table long enough that nobody gets seated at the kids' end, and kept the grill close so the cook never leaves the conversation. Bring a designer in before the drywall goes up and the beams land where they should, the stone runs to the right height, and the shelves get built for what's actually going on them. Every barndo needs a landing spot, so we gave this one something worth stopping for. Mixed tone reclaimed planks, horseshoes doing the work of hooks, and a green bench low enough to pull your boots off after a long day. The antler chandelier is not subtle. Neither is Texas. 🤠

Behind every finished room is a room like this.

Welcome to my resource room. Samples everywhere, plans on the table, and about a dozen projects moving at once. Right now that includes a forever home, a house one very opinionated cat redecorated before we got there, two projects in Coppell, a new build wrapped in Italian tile, and a Bedford home that came our way because a daughter made the introduction.

Twenty six years in and I still get the best clients in Texas. That is not luck. That is an honor.

My client and I walked into our meeting in the exact same silver sneakers. It happens more than you’d think, and yes, it makes the work fun. But matching taste has never been the requirement. Twenty-six years in, I design modern, traditional, and everything sitting in between, because good design runs on principles, not trends.

Blue and white pillows, a glass table that keeps the floor in view, a fireplace surround built to look like it came with the house. Light, layered, and not the least bit precious. We always, always use performance fabric so your home feels luxe—but lived in.

That rock wall had a lot of opinions. I gave it new ones. The stone came back light and stacked, the built-ins run wall to wall now, and blue carries the room in about six different weights. The gold velvet chair stays. It earned its spot.

Swipe for the before, because this bar earned its bragging rights. We took builder-basic to bespoke with cabinetry in deep charcoal, a shimmering picket tile backsplash that catches light like water, and brass details that pull it all together. Proof positive: never underestimate what one small corner can do for a whole house.
