Dear Friends,
I want to thank all of you who posted such lovely, kind and comforting comments about my mom. She was truly a remarkable woman and I was lucky to have experienced her love and wisdom throughout my life. Her memorial celebration will be on Saturday, October 16, 2 to 4 PM, with a special remembrance at 3 PM, at Clark Legacy Center at Brannon Crossing. There was never a day that I worked in the shop that that one or two or half a dozen people asked me how my mom was doing. She taught crochet and duplicate stitch in the early days of business and more after she retired from teaching school. She loved to “piddle” around in the shop, as she called it, and the customers loved her. So it is with great sadness that I tell you that my mom, Alice Jones, age 91, left this earth on August 14, 2021 to walk the streets of heaven, and have joyous reunions with her family and friends. I will miss her and her influence, advice and friendship more than I can possibly express. She was a treasure, and I was truly blessed to have her in my life as long as I did. If there’s any way possible, she’s up there now, gathering a group of angels that she can teach to crochet!

As most of you who are visiting our page know, The Stitch Niche closed in May, 2019, after 28 years in business. It was a difficult decision and I still miss the interaction with all of our wonderful customers! As the time nears for another I-75 Yarn Crawl, always one of our favorite activities, I wish you safe travels and exciting discoveries — may you find the perfect skein of yarn to add to your stash!

A picture of the shop on our final day back in May, and a couple of pictures of my living and room and front hall after the move was completed......aaaaargh! So, I’m planning a garage sale, with most everything at a 70% - 90% discount. The tentative plan is for the weekend of Nov. 22 & 23, but the weather may turn nasty on Friday, so may need to postpone it until a weekend in December. Stay tuned to this space for firm dates.

I’m feeling a little nostalgic right now. The I-75 yarn crawl has just started for 2019. We participated in the yarn crawl in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The crawl was, from the shop perspective, always an exhausting but exhilarating experience, and so much fun! I miss being part of the excitement, but looking forward to visiting some other shops this year as a customer!

I can’t believe it’s already been 2 months since I closed the shop. I meant to share some photos from our “Goodbye Reception” long ago! I so appreciated all of your kind words and wishes, the lovely gifts and the delicious food! It was a wonderful ending to our 28 years of business. My sincere and loving thanks!

As we head into our last week of business, I wanted to update you on current discount percentages and other pertinent news.

Our remaining yarn and notions inventory is now discounted at 60% off retail.

Inventory discounted 75% includes all books and leaflets, sale corner merchandise, pearl cotton, all buttons and remaining models. Cross stitch fabric will also be discounted 75%, but custom cuts will no longer be available.

A reminder that our last day open for business will be Friday, May 24. I hope to see many of you at our Farewell/Friendship get together on Thursday, May 23, beginning at 6:00 at the shop!
