Making a memory blanket? I have made memory blankets and cried with every stitch. That is OK. It is good to get those tears out. I thought of my loved one all the way through, making the blanket truly theirs. The best part is when you are finished, with that blanket wrapped around you, it feels like you are in their embrace! What is Americana in crochet? It is more vintage and rustic while still using red, white and blue. It can be all year decor rather than just 4th of July. Americana uses more barn reds than bright reds. You can use beige or off white for a more vintage feel. I love the look of this blanket. Thursday tips! Finding those patriotic patterns. I love YouTube for my patterns. I am a visual learner. I also found that when I typed in crocheted Patriotic blankets all it pulled up was flag blankets. Even though I loved those they are a bit involved and way more time consuming than I want. Red, white and blue blankets yielded more results but I hit the jackpot when I entered Christmas blankets. They are also 3 colors and substituting blue for green was easy. Any pattern that uses 3 colors will work. It will feel patriotic if those colors are red, white and blue.

Why is Hobby Lobby's white not white? I don't know and just realized that it wasn't. In my search for Joanne alternatives I've tried the Hobby Lobby's Crafter's Secret. I love the softness and the yardage. I'm happy I can get it on sale every other week. Just beware the white is not white. In the picture the top "white" is Hobby Lobby and the bottom is my preferred Lion Brands Pound of Love.

Warm Up America!! I've been working hard to take my scraps and extra to make blankets for Warm Up America and to spread the word on this great charity. To me Making America Great Again means something different than it means in Washington. To me it means helping my neighbors and sharing what I love. I have decided that's what I'm going do and worry about this year. I hope these patterns that I've highlighted are some you will try. All of these blankets that are pictured are for Warm Up America. The patterns are YouTube videos that I used to make them (they can be found on my page in the comments of the original posts.) Let me know your favorites.

Another blanket finished for Warm Up America! This full sized blanket was inspired by the Secret Yarnery on YouTube. I loved the idea of using 5 coordinating small skiens of yarn and going until I couldn't do anymore full rows. My skiens must of been bigger than hers because I had a very good size blanket. I used Red Hearts smaller skiens and stayed with her color suggestion. I did not follow her tutorial and opted for just a straight Granny Stitch. I plan on revisiting this pattern with a more country color palette. I will put a link to her tutorial in the comments. Let's keep America Warm!
