Built in 1817 in the historic town of New London, the Rooted building stood as the halfway mark on the route from Baltimore to Philadelphia. Beginning as the Franklin Inn, the building was also later known as the Union Hotel after the Civil War, the Crossroads Inn, provided a home to local residents, and later became an antique shop in the 1980’s, and was most recently was home to Candy for All Oc

casions. Rooted’s co-founders Sandi Bunker, Ashley Rector, and Betsy Beehler are one of the original families of the area that grew up in New London Township. Growing up in a small town that stayed very active as a community, it was always important for them to recreate that feeling of a central space where everyone can get together. Rooted was inspired to be a gathering place in which residents feel welcome to come and cherish in the creativity and work of others in the area. With over 200 local artisans and consigners, the business has been designed to be a welcoming space which weaves the community together. With an area so abundantly rich with talent, we will continue to offer new and exciting items and seasonal specialties as well as offer opportunities for community gatherings. We are always open to taking suggestions for how we can continue to cater to the needs of our community. We also would love for you to connect on the rest of our social media sites and provide us with any reviews of what you look and room for opportunity or creativity within our business.

A little something we’ve been working on for a little while 😊💌 is a global initiative encouraging people to slow down and write one letter each week. Through their pen pal network, people from all over the world connect the old-fashioned way.

Rooted recently became a ✨Letter Keeper✨ which means you can use our address as part of the project instead of sharing your home address. Participants write an introductory letter sharing a little about themselves (their interests, hobbies, favorite books, dreams, hometowns, or whatever they’d like to share). Other participants can read those introductions and write back, creating new pen pal connections and friendships.

Whether you’re looking to meet new people, rediscover the joy of handwritten mail, or practice a creative habit, this is a beautiful place to start.

Puppies and popsicles is back to celebrate the start of summer ☀️🐶 Join us at Rooted New London on Friday, June 5 from 12-2 to play with puppies, destroy some popsicles and play yard games. Our side yard is open, so you can bring a blanket for a picnic and hang out for awhile!
