We have a serious case of creative side-questing happening at The Makerz Haven. 😂

You walk in thinking, “Maybe I’ll make a card today…”

Then somebody starts melting wax seals at the next table.

Someone else pulls out the watercolors.

There’s paper everywhere.

And suddenly you’re thinking…

👀 “Welllll… I HAVE always wanted to try that.”

Today’s studio adventures included melting pink + green wax together to create the prettiest swirled wax seal, while other makers were busy creating handmade cards nearby.

And THAT is exactly what we love about this space.

The Makerz Haven isn’t only about scrapbooking. We’re a place to play with paper, card making, wax seals, watercolors, mixed media and whatever creative rabbit hole you happen to fall into next.

Many of the supplies you see us playing with are available to shop right here in the store, too—because sometimes you really do need to touch it, try it and see it in action.

📸 Plot twist: this Polaroid camera takes PAPER, not pictures. 😂✂️
And wait until you see what it does…

Okay, paper people… Kathy understood the assignment. 📸😍

Today in the Makerz Haven studio, Kathy created the CUTEST little 3D Polaroid camera pop-up card using her Silhouette machine.

She downloaded the pattern, sent it to her Silhouette to cut, folded everything together and—POP!—a tiny 3D Polaroid camera was born. ✂️📸

But here’s the part that had us completely snap-happy…

👉 It folds FLAT enough to fit inside an envelope.

Excuse us?! 😂

Hallmark could never.

And if you’re looking at this thinking, “That’s adorable…but I wouldn’t have the slightest clue where to start,” GOOD.

Because that’s exactly what The Makerz Haven is for.

We’re working on bringing you some fun pop-up papercrafting classes, where you can come play with paper, learn something new and create projects that look WAY more intimidating than they actually need to be.

Today’s little craft-table tip comes courtesy of one of our regulars giving a hardworking ink pad a much-needed refill.

And before you start squeezing ink everywhere, here’s something worth inking about: 🖤

If you refill a black ink pad with ink from a different brand, the shades may NOT match.

Yep. Apparently even ink pads are brand loyal. 😂

So whenever possible, stick with the coordinating refill for your ink pad if you want consistent results.

BUT WAIT… before you declare your ink pad officially deceased: 💀

If your pad still has plenty of life left but is starting to dry out, an ink refresher may be exactly what it needs. We carry ink refreshers right here at The Makerz Haven to help revive that pad and extend its crafty little life.

♻️ Reduce. Reuse. RE-INK.

Look at us saving ink pads one slightly stained finger at a time. 😂

This. THIS is what we mean when we say, “Welcome to your Haven.” 🥹

She stopped by the other night, right before closing.

No big plan. She was simply checking out the paper store, seeing what we were all about, and getting a feel for the place.

And then today?

There she was. 💛

Sitting in our studio, surrounded by new friends, creating, chatting, laughing, and already looking like she’d been part of the gang forever.

Excuse us while we get a little misty-eyed over our cardstock. 🥹😂

Because The Makerz Haven was never meant to be just a place to buy pretty paper.

It’s a place where you can walk in because you need adhesive.

Walk in because you have twenty-year-old photos waiting for a scrapbook.

Walk in because you need a few hours where nobody needs anything from you.

Walk in because you’ve been crafting for thirty years.

Or walk in because you’re curious and just want to see what’s going on.

However you find your way through our door, you belong here.

We’ll help when you want help.
We’ll give you space when you don’t.
We’ll celebrate what you make without judging how you make it.

And sometimes… you might just walk in looking for paper and accidentally leave with your people. 💛✂️

You’ve got 1,847 photos on your phone, 14 screenshots you don’t remember taking, and approximately ZERO of them living somewhere you can actually flip through.

Sounds like a scrapbook to us. 😏

Okay… this is SUPER STINKING CUTE. 😍

One of our local paper artists, Nicole, spent some creative time in the studio today and made this absolutely gorgeous 3D butterfly pop-up card, complete with layered florals AND a coordinating side envelope. 🦋🌸💌

She created it using a Cricut cutter kit, and this is exactly what we want The Makerz Haven to be about.

A place to sit down.
Pull out the paper.
Try something new.
Share ideas.
Make a little mess.
And leave with something you’re ridiculously proud of. ❤️
