Stained Glass Basics with Katelyn !TWO NEW CLASS DATES!

Learn how to turn a design template into a beautiful stained glass suncatcher! Students will choose from 6 beginner-friendly templates to create their piece. Learn how to cut and grind glass to fit the design and then foil and solder the pieces to create a stunning hanging work of art. Students will learn tips and tricks throughout the workshop that will help guide future choices in the craft and optimize chances for success! This class is intended for beginners who are new to the craft of stained glass, or those with experience who just need a refresher or more practice.

Please arrive a bit early to pay your materials fee and get settled, as instruction will begin promptly at 11:00. We will need every bit of the 5-hour class to complete these projects! You must wear closed-toe shoes and no exposed legs. Please bring a large water bottle (that closes completely) and a snack.

Materials/supplies fee covers: stained glass, sticker paper, solder, flux, copper foil, nitrile gloves, hanging materials, cleaning materials, handouts, tool/equipment and possibly a band-aid or two.

Collage Heart Hanger Class with LeAnn

Collage is such a fun way to create a keepsake! Join art educator LeAnn in this class to make a sweet collage heart hanger for yourself or as a one-of-a-kind gift. Feel free to bring special stickers, a patterned napkin, or tissue to use in creating your keepsake memory hanger. If using a certain image, it needs to NOT be on hard, glossy paper, or paper that bleeds. There will be many papers on hand for you to use as well.(The more layers, the better the result!) The possibilities are yours to explore!
Materials fee covers: Mod Podge glue, brushes, cardboard heart, ephemera, tissue/napkins/stickers/gift wrapping paper, ribbon for hanger, sharpies, acrylic paint markers, charcoal, hot glue and 3/8″ pom pom trim or lace trim for edging.

Age 10+, please.

Beginner Knitting with Sam

Here’s the class you’ve been waiting for! Come get cozy in our Beginner Knitting class. Sam Stadter, certified knitting instructor with Craft Yarn Council, teaches this introductory class for beginners or those with only a little bit of experience. Over the course of two sessions, Sam will cover basic knitting stitches and techniques. By the end of the class, students will complete their own classic scarf or cowl! $30 Materials fee (due to Sam at class time) covers 5 skeins of wool yarn in white, pink, green, or blue (enough to make your project) and 1 pair of knitting needles. Age 7+, please.

Spaces are limited. Registration by June 10 is required.

Macrame Plant Hanger Class with Hannah

Hannah (.genevieve) is back to teach this sweet little macramé plant hanger! Whether or not you have macramé experience, this class is for you. Learn some traditional knots with a new twist on this modernized classic. Materials fee covers twisted cotton cord, wooden hanging hoop, a terra cotta pot and a pothos plant. You’ll leave with a finished piece and the skills to make more!

SoMa After Dark Art Pop-Up with Bekah and Jenna

We are so excited to welcome two favorite artists to SMC for our first art pop-up of 2026! Joining us to show their work during May 1 SoMa After Dark are Bekah Wild and Jenna Jones.

Bekah Wild is a printmaker and illustrator based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Their work, largely inspired by the beauty and coziness of life in the Natural State, is both a return to and reimagining of their family’s long history of folk traditions.

Jenna Jones of SLUGKNIVES creates bright, kitschy, and bold works on canvas, wood, and paper, influenced by childhood, nostalgia, and the natural world, with special attention given to sweets, fungi, and all creepy crawly creatures.

We have no doubt you know and love them as much as we do, so please join us for some great art, yummy snacks and sips, and really good times with really good people. If you don’t know them, you gotta pop in to the pop-up! Can’t wait to see you!
